Where to Farm Fantastic Fur, Peerless Plumage and Carving Canine

These species specific Midnight skinning materials are used in a lot of crafts for other professions, but can be difficult to find. Here we have gone over how to obtain them and one of our preferred locations to farm them in.

NOTE: We believe these items may currently be bugged and not dropping correctly, as they appear to be exceptionally rare.

In order to gather these species specific materials at all, you first need to have unlocked the Gainful Gathering Specialization. This will give you a small chance when skinning to receive one of the materials.

You can further improve the droprate by taking the node Trophy Taker, but you will need to put 10 points in the Gainful Gathering main wheel to be able to unlock a sub-specialization. You can continue to fill out the Trophy Taker wheel to increase the amount of these materials you receive

Different beasts will drop different materials; the table below shows what type of beast will drop what type of material when skinned.

Material Beast Type
Carving Canine Fanged Beasts
Peerless Plumage Feathered Beasts
Fantastic Fur Furred Beasts

The distinction between fanged and furred beasts is a bit unclear, and we suspect some beasts count as both fanged and furred and thus can drop both materials. At least that was the case during our testing.

We have enjoyed farming on the Isle of Quel’Danas on the North West side. There is a large variety of Hawkstriders, Dragonhawk and Lynx on here. Although, we spent over an hour here on the live servers and only received 1 of the materials (we suspect this is due to a bugged drop rate).
