Strengths & Weaknesses of Warrior in WoW Forever
Strengths
- Has great cleave/aoe
- Great in dungeons
- Can chain-pull quickly thanks to Rage resource
Weaknesses
- Lack of self-healing
- Lack of crowd control
- High RNG on damage output
- Struggles against higher level mobs when leveling
In WoW Forever, Warrior is a fairly rigid leveling class that is defined by its somewhat high entry difficulty. With little ability to self heal, lack of Crowd Control, and heavy elements of RNG involved in dealing damage, Warrior can be a challenging class to play while leveling, especially for those who haven't been accustomed to its intricacies.
Further, due to the Forever attack table, Warrior struggles against higher level mobs, and has difficulty fighting packs of enemies without support or them being lower level.
However, when played in certain ways Warrior can shine - it performs admirably in grouped content, has efficient cleave, and can leverage its unique rage mechanic to have little downtime in between mobs.
Recommended Leveling Talents for Warrior in WoW Forever
There are two different talent builds for Warrior in WoW Forever, each with their own advantages and problems. The first talent build is the more traditional Two-Handed Weapon focused build, while the second focuses on a Protection build using one handers.
Both talent trees have their advantages; The Two-Handed build is better for a more casual playstyle, especially in duo or trio setups where you have support, while the Protection-focused build is fantastic for solo grinding.
Arms (Two-handed) Build
As mentioned, this build performs well when you are leveling with a group.
In this build, we first pick up the incredibly valuable talent in Cruelty. An additional 5% Critical strike at max rank is extremely strong, and is worth delaying our entry into the Arms Tree. After that, we quickly pick up Improved Rend, which gained a big buff in Forever due to Rend scaling with Attack Power.
Next we delve deeper into the Arms tree to pick up strong talents such as Tactical Mastery and Deep Wounds before unlocking more build-defining abilities such as Bloodthrill and Sweeping Strikes. Both of these Talents allow us to deal more consistent damage, as well as general damage boosting talents like Weaponmaster to further amplify our abilities.
Finally, we round out by picking up the capstone talent in Mortal Strike, before going back into the Fury Tree to pick up Unbridled Wrath for some extra rage generation as mobs start to live longer at higher levels.
Protection Build
This build is great for solo leveling & grinding.
In the Protection tree we immediately pick up Shield Specialization. This talent greatly increases our Rage economy, a persistent problem with Warrior in Forever, and also sets up for the powerful talent Master Of Defense later in the tree.
Continuing on, we grab Improved Thunder Clap which is a core ability when fighting more than 1 enemy, as well as Improved Bloodrage for even more Rage on demand.
At level 20, we start being able to grab even more essential talents such as Master Of Defense and Improved Revenge, before picking up one of the most powerful single point talents; Vanguard, allowing us to stay in Defensive Stance permanently and constantly have a source of Rage income at the start of a fight.
As we then go deeper, pickup up some minor utility talents, we start unlocking powerful damage boosting talents such as Bastion and Focused Rage, both of which speed up our leveling substantially with our increased efficiency.
Warrior Playstyle and Core Abilities
Weapon Importance
Warrior is defined by its reliance on its weapon. 95-100% of their damage while leveling is entirely dependent on it. As such, the class can vary between feeling weak after an extended period of time using the same weapon, to immensely powerful after upgrading to a strong new weapon, such as a new dungeon reward or drop.
Basic Leveling Rotation
Much of a Warriors play style while leveling will revolve around spending Rage at the start of a fight to put up important debuffs such as Rend and Sunder Armor, before saving Rage as the mobs HP drops lower in order to be able to spend on the next mob.
As you gain more levels, a Warrior will unlock more Rage efficient instant skills such as Slam, Mortal Strike, and Sweeping Strikes that augment this toolkit and allow for more fluid gameplay. However, saving Rage for the next mob or pack will always be a core part of our leveling strategy, and knowing when to press abilities when a mob is lower health is an important skill to learn.
Core Abilities
Our Core abilities can be divided into three distinct categories:
Damage Abilities are abilities that directly deal damage, such as Rend, Slam, Revenge, and Mortal Strike. These spells are the core of our main rotational damage output, along with our auto attack, and will make up the majority of our rotation during leveling.
Support Abilities are spells that indirectly augment our output, such as Battle Shout, Sunder Armor, and Sweeping Strikes. While they may not deal damage directly, they contribute towards dealing damage either more efficiently or in greater numbers, through methods such as buffing our attack power, reducing the enemies armour, or allowing our attacks to also strike a nearby enemy.
Utility Abilities are abilities that allow us to influence mobs in ways that don't help our own damage. Whether its reducing a large number of mobs damage output with Demoralizing Shout, slowing their movement speed with Hamstring, or giving you the ability for a quick get away with Intimidating Shout, Warrior has access to a decent number of skills that will help them to manipulate a fight when needed.
Key Spells & Leveling Milestones for Warrior
The following are the key abilities to look out for as you level:
| Spell / Ability | Level | Impact |
| 1 | A core self-buff that amplifies our AP, and should be kept up at all times. | |
| 4 | Deals a decent amount of damage over a medium duration, is extremely rage efficient, and penetrates all Armour due to its Bleed damage type. | |
| 4 | A way to increase our mobility, while also adding a quick injection of Rage at the start of a fight. | |
| 8 | Due to Warrior having very little ability to self heal, our ability to recover from pulling extra mobs is minimal. To compensate, we have a 15 second long slow available very early on, vital in making sure we can slow mobs and run away safely, or even slow a single mob while we kite and kill a primary target. | |
| 10 | With the lower armour of mobs while leveling, using one to two of these debuffs at the start of a fight is our most cost effective damage increasing tool, in addition to being a fantastic tool any time you need to group up. | |
| 12 | Our first cheap spender, Overpower allows us to reduce the impact of dodges by striking the target, and its high damage helps us prevent losing time due to unlucky streaks of dodges. | |
| 14 | Opens up Protection as a viable build, with its cheap cost and high damage. | |
| 14 | Reducing the AP of enemies we face means that we have less downtime, allowing us to level faster. | |
| Victory Rush | 20 | Small damage increase, but without a Rage cost and with the significant advantage of giving us a small but noticeable self-heal. |
| Retaliation | 20 | Our first major cooldown, this lets us take on multiple mobs at the same time by dealing massive burst damage when attacked. Useful for dangerous single enemies or simply to burst down accidental pulls. |
| Whirlwind | 36 | A powerful AoE Ability that lets you hit up to 4 targets. While those leveling solo may find this ability to be somewhat underwhelming, anyone playing with support that is able to pull multiple mobs will be instantly appreciative of the power gain. |
New Stances are unlocked at level 10 and level 30, both through short quest chains.
Defensive Stance Quest (Level 10)
Defensive Stance is started in your race's starting area, and usually requires you to do a short kill or collection quest before rewarding you with three core abilities - Sunder Armor, Taunt, and Defensive Stance. This is also followed up by another short quest that requires you to collect several items, rewarding a powerful one hand weapon with several weapon type options available.
Berserker Stance Quest (Level 30)
Berserker Stance is available at Level 30, and your class trainer will send you on a short trip to Fray Island near Ratchet, where you will be required to fight a short gauntlet of mobs before being rewarded with your new stance.
Following this is a trip to Alterac Mountains, where you will embark on the iconic questline to gain your Whirlwind Axe, an incredibly powerful weapon. While this quest is extremely difficult to complete at level 30, many of the reagents can be bought on the Auction House, or be assisted with by a higher level player, making it a fantastic way to get a strong weapon early on if you are behind in levels.
Best / Suggested Professions for Warrior
Mining & Blacksmithing
Mining and Blacksmithing are both powerful professions for Warrior while leveling that require only a small amount of dedication to reap major benefits from.
Mining can be a good supply of early game materials, and often can be done somewhat passively while questing, while Blacksmithing uses these materials to craft Weapon Stones; Powerful early game consumables that apply a flat damage bonus to your weapon. While these are static and may not seem like a large damage increase, they amount to a significant increase to our kill potential, due to the high gain they give at lower levels.
Skinning
Skinning is an easy way to make early money, especially for those trying to achieve their level 40 mount early. It is by far the easiest profession to keep up to date, has a powerful camp buff that rewards 2% crit, and is extremely profitable due to the high vendor price of skins and hides later in the leveling route.
Secondary Professions
First Aid is a core Warrior profession - easily kept high due to the frequency of cloth drops, First aid is a profession that provides a vital heal during rough periods, or even just a way to reduce downtime. Slowing or Fearing mobs with Hamstring and Intimidating Shout provide fantastic opportunities to fit in a quick bandage when a fight might not be going well.
Other Warrior Specific Leveling Info
Don't Skip Dungeons
Dungeons are a fantastic tool for Warrior, more so than any other class. Warrior can struggle while solo but shines in group content, and the rewards gained from dungeoning, especially weapon upgrades, can make our progression substantially easier with the ability to outscale mobs of an equal level.
Make sure you factor in the powerful dungeon quests into your route, and try to squeeze in as many unique dungeons as possible to reap the rewards within
Group Up If You Can
Grouping is also a fantastic tool for Warrior. As mentioned earlier, Warrior struggles with solo content more so than most other classes, but with support, especially a class that can heal, it becomes immensely powerful.
Leveling with friends or simply grouping up to complete quests is almost always advised.
We hope our Warrior Leveling guide for WoW Forever was useful to help you know where to spend your talent points and how to get the most out of the class whilst leveling.
