Fishing has not received many changes in the Midnight expansion. In this guide we will take you through the few things that are new, all the new fish you can catch, and how to level your fishing all the way to 300.
New to Fishing in Midnight
While fishing is not receiving a huge amount of changes, it is receiving few minor but significant changes.
Epic Profession Equipment
All professions will now have access to epic quality profession equipment. The uncommon green gear can still be bought and sold on the AH, while the rare and epic gear is Bind on Pickup and has to be ordered through the work order system.
Fishing Lures
In Midnight, Fishing Lures will be made by the Fishing profession. In previous expansions, Fishing Lures have generally been produced by Skinners.
You can fish up the recipes for these lures from specific pools called Careless Cargo or Lost Treasure Pools.
Lures increase the chance for you to catch specific fish. The materials you need to make the lures are just different types of fish.
You can craft the following Lures:
Fishing Trainer Location
The Midnight Fishing trainer is Drathen, he is located near the large pond in the center of Silvermoon City.

Upgradable Reel
In the War Within you had the Weaverline as an upgrade path for your fishing rod, to gain more skill in Fishing. This concept returns in Midnight. As you fish you will be finding parts of Bloomlines which can be merged into something equivalent to the Weaverline. This was not working during testing so we have no further information.
Leveling Fishing in Midnight
This section covers our suggestions for how to most efficiently level your Midnight Fishing.
Grab a Rod
Fishing only has one profession slot, for a fishing rod. You will be able to purchase the uncommon Farstrider Hobbyist Rod from the Auction House. If you want to upgrade to a blue or epic quality fishing rod, you will either need to craft it yourself with Engineering, or use a work order.
Leveling Midnight Fishing
To level up Fishing you as usual have two options: fish in open water or in pools. We recommend doing a bit of both.
1 - 125 Open Waters
From level 1 till about 125 you will consistently be getting grey trash items. Therefore, to speed things up, we recommend fishing in open water until you reach 125. Which open water you fish from does not matter, just pick a quiet spot with a nice view.
125 - 300 Pools
From level 125 we recommend picking either Harandar, Eversong or Zul’aman and farming pools there. Our personal preference is Eversong; as the pools seem slightly closer to each other, especially if you stick around the rivers in the center. We have included a map of the route we like to use.

Profession Treasure
There is a profession treasure specific to Fishing, in Zul’Aman, called Bait and Tackle. When you loot the treasure you get a Lucky Loa Lure and the Abyss Angler’s Fishlog, which grants 3 skillpoints in Fishing.
The treasure can be looted only once per character, but the Fishlog is Warbound. This means you can collect Fishlogs with many alts, and then send all of them to one character who gets all the skill points.

Darkmoon Faire
While Darkmoon Faire is active you can collect the quest Spoilin' for Salty Sea Dogs from Stamp Thunderhorn.
This will grant 3 skill in fishing, so we recommend leaving this as late as possible in the leveling process.
We hope this Fishing Profession leveling guide helped you get started with this gathering profession. For more Midnight content you can check out all of our Midnight Guides.
