Enchanting is probably the most expensive and difficult profession to level in Midnight. In this guide we cover the few changes Enchanting has received, how to level your Midnight Enchanting, and a recommended starter build.
New to Enchanting in Midnight
Enchanting has received quite a few changes in Midnight, becoming a much more difficult profession to level, but will have access to a big chunk of knowledge from Glamour Recipes once you hit 55.
Only Two Ranks - Materials and consumables used and crafted by Enchanters in the Midnight Expansion will only come in two ranks, as opposed to three in recent expansions.
Different Enchanting Slots - Bracer and back enchants are gone in Midnight. Instead you can now enchant helmets and shoulders, in addition to the previous weapons, chest, boots, rings and profession tools.
Moxie - As you gain knowledge you will also be gaining Moxie; which is the currency in Midnight for which you buy new recipes. Unlike Artisan's Acuity in the War Within, Moxie is now gathered separately for each profession, and you can’t use currency gained from one profession to “feed” into recipes for another profession. Moxie is also not used for recrafting gear, or crafting profession gear; just purely for buying from vendors.
Epic Profession Equipment - All professions will now have access to epic quality profession equipment. The uncommon green gear can still be bought and sold on the AH, while the rare and epic gear is Bind on Pickup and has to be ordered through the work order system. None of these crafts require Moxie.
Enchanting Trainer Location
The Enchanting Trainer is Dolothos, who can be found on the eastern side of the Bazaar in Silvermoon City, just north of Murder Row.

Enchanting has a second trainer, Jennara Sunglow, who teaches all of the Glamour recipes. She is located at the top of a tall building in Thalassian University in Silvermoon.

Glamours
Glamours are consumables, made by enchanters, with which you can alter your appearance to look like another race.
There are 25 different glamours in total, they are cheap to make and you can learn them at level 55 Midnight Enchanting. You don't gain levels crafting them and there’s not a huge demand for the glamours, but you still gain first craft knowledge; which means at level 55 you should head off to Jennara Sunglow and make yourself a large chunk of knowledge.
Materials Overview
Here are all of the materials that are used by or crafted by enchanters.
The new Enchanting Materials received through disenchanting.
Enchanting basically uses all other profession materials but we have listed the most common here.
- Sunglass Vial
- Petrified Root
- Flawless Amani Lapis
- Flawless Harandar Peridot
- Mote Of Pure Void
- Mote Of Primal Energy
- Mote Of Light
- Mote Of Wild Magic
- Silvermoon Weapon Wrap
- Azeroot
- Carving Canine
- Fantastic Fur
- Peerless Plumage
- Majestic Fin
- Majestic Hide
- Sterling Alloy
- Gloaming Alloy
- Refulgent Copper Ingot
Leveling Midnight Enchanting
Leveling Midnight Enchanting looks to be very expensive at the start of the expansion. This guide is focused on leveling as cheaply as possible, while still gaining the most amount of knowledge, and without committing to a knowledge build.
Profession Equipment
Before starting to level your profession, you may want to pick up some profession equipment. You can purchase cheap green equipment from the auction house, although availability early on in the expansion may be lower.
Runed Refulgent Copper Rod, Bright Linen Enchanting Hat, and Silvermoon Focusing Shard are all great to start with. The Copper Rod you will be crafting yourself if you follow the guide below.
When you upgrade to blue and epic quality we recommend starting with the Copper Rod, then the Hat, and finally the Shard.
List of Required Materials
These materials will take you to Midnight Enchanting level 100 if you follow the guide below, and will most likely cost a large amount of gold.
- 562 x Eversinging Dust
- 184 x Radiant Shard
- 36 x Dawn Crystal
- 72 x Petrified Root
- 15 x Mote Of Wild Magic
- 75 x Mote Of Primal Energy
- 3 x Flawless Amani Lapis
- 30 x Flawless Harandar Peridot
- 1 x Refulgent Copper Rod
- 1 x Sunglass Vial
To make the 25 different Glamours and get 25 knowledge points, but no Enchanting levels, you also need:
- 50 x Eversinging Dust
- 10 x Mote Of Wild Magic
- 9 x Mote Of Primal Energy
- 4 x Mote Of Light
- 2 x Mote Of Pure Void
1 - 20 Disenchanting
When you first learn Midnight Enchanting, in Silvermoon, we recommend that you immediately purchase a Refulgent Copper Rod and a stack of Enchanting Vellum from Lyna, who is next to the trainer. This way you don’t have to go back to the trainer until you hit Enchanting level 17.
- Disenchant to level 15.
Unless you have access to a ton of BoEs, you will have to go out questing a bit. Each item you disenchant will give you a guaranteed skill up until level 10. Until 15 you will get the levels quite frequently, and then it gets significantly slower. You can disenchant all the way to level 25, but the last levels will take forever.
Once you get to level 15, craft:
- Refulgent Copper Rod and equip it.
- Enchant Ring - Thalassian Haste.
- Disenchant to level 17
Return to the trainer, and learn new recipes and craft:
- Enchant Ring - Thalassian Versatility
- Enchant Shoulders - Nature's Grace
- Enchant Helm - Rune Of Avoidance
If you are unlucky you will only be 19, however, you can just disenchant more items (or repeat the Enchant Helm - Rune Of Avoidance) to hit level 20.
20 - 40 Unlocking Disenchanting Delegate
At 20 return to the trainer and learn the new recipes. Now craft the following:
Note: The Berserker’s Rage enchants will take you to level 25, but are fairly expensive to make and can be replaced by disenchanting.
At 25 you will unlock your first specialization. Pick Disenchanting Delegate, which will increase your skill with disenchanting. Skill doesn’t increase the amount of reagents you receive, just the quality. That being said, if you further invest in Dust Deliverer you can increase the amount received. We recommend 5 points in the main wheel and filling all 30 on the Dust Deliverer wheel.
Craft the following:
- Enchant Shoulders - Illusory Adornment - Blooming Light
- 4 x Enchant Ring - Nature's Wrath.
Return to the trainer, then craft:
- Enchant Shoulders - Flight Of The Eagle.
- Enchant Ring - Nature's Wrath until you hit 40
40 - 55 More Enchants
Return to the trainer to learn some new recipes, one of which will be the Enchant Weapon - Arcane Mastery. If you have the mats for this just lying around, craft one for the knowledge.
Otherwise craft:
- Enchant Weapon - Berserker's Rage. (skip this if you enchanted Arcane Mastery)
- Enchant Helm - Hex Of Leeching
- 2 x Thalassian Spellweaver's Wand
Then return to the Enchanting trainer to learn some new recipes, and craft:
- Enchant Helm - Blessing Of Speed
- Enchant Shoulders - Thalassian Recovery
- 3x Enchant Ring - Amani Mastery
This should put you at Midnight Enchanting level 55.
55 Glamour Time
Visit Jennara Sunglow, who teaches all of the Glamour Recipes. Learn all the recipes and craft one of each for the knowledge.
55 - 100 Weapon Enchants
At 55 you can learn 2 new weapon recipes: Enchant Weapon - Jan'alai's Precision and Enchant Weapon - Worldsoul Aegis. The Enchant Weapon - Jan'alai's Precision has a rare material, so unless you really want the knowledge, we recommend skipping it for now. The Enchant Weapon - Worldsoul Aegis however has easily obtainable materials and during our testing gave 3 skill ups all the way to 100 (we suspect this may be a bug, and might not be the case live. If so we will change this text).
If it is orange all the way, craft:
If it is not orange all the way:
Stop crafting Enchant Weapon - Worldsoul Aegis. Instead specialize into a knowledge tree to learn other recipes.
Starter Enchanting Knowledge Build
The knowledge trees in Midnight are very similar to those in The War Within. We have included three builds that we think will be great to get you started.
Disenchanting Build
This build is focused on getting the most out of disenchanting, and is good if you get access to a lot of rare and epic gear through raids and dungeons etc. There will be a huge demand for enchants at the start of Midnight, so there’s a big opportunity for profit if you sell the mats on the auction house.
Fully fill out the Disenchanting Delegate main wheel, which you already have 5 points in if you followed the guide above. This unlocks the last two sub-specializations, Shard Supplier and Crystal Collector. Fill out Crystal Collector first, then Shard Supplier, since you can shatter crystals into shards.
Beyond this point, place your points as you like.
Tonics and Tools Build
This build will focus on producing Oils, which will be widely used by players doing Mythic+, delves and raids. This is also the tree for making better Enchanting Tools, so you will be able to craft your own really well, as well find work orders from other enchanters.
Once you reach level 50 Midnight Enchanting, unlock the Transitories, Tonics and Tools specialization. Place 5 points in the main wheel to unlock Excellent Expendables, which teaches you the healer oil recipe, Oil Of Dawn.
Fill out the Excellent Expendables wheel, to get additional skill and multicraft when crafting oils.
Here you have a choice to either A. continue buffing Mana Oils or B. go for the better Enchanting Tool first. Do A and B in the order you prefer.
- Unlock the Spellbound Shatter specialization and place 5 points in the main wheel. Unlock the Multicrafting Meticulously sub-specialization, and fill it up to increase your multicrafting.
- Place 10 points in the Transistorise, Tonics and Tools main wheel, to open another sub-specialization. Choose Outstanding Outfits and spend 10 points to get access to Reputable Rods, and learn the recipe for a better Enchanting Tool.
Finally spend 10 more points in the Spellbound Shatter main wheel and unlock Responsible Resources, to get materials back when you craft mana oils.
From now on, spend your points as you like.
Elevating Enchants Build
This build is focused on crafting Enchants. Often enchanters will have a special enchant in mind when they spend their early knowledge points. Maybe their guild wants them to focus on a certain enchant, or they have a plan to farm a specific recipe. If you don’t have a plan already, we suggest focusing on rings, which will teach you 4 enchants that are all popular.
Unlock the Elevating Equipment tree as your second specialisation. Spend 15 points in the main wheel to unlock 2 sub-specializations. Pick Thalassian Talents and Amani Augments, and place 10 points in each to unlock a sub-specialization in each.
In the Thalassian Talents pick Silvermoon’s Spellpower, and in Amani Augments pick Zul’Aman Zeal. This will teach you Enchant Ring - Silvermoon's Alacrity and Enchant Ring - Zul'jin's Mastery, which are the haste and mastery ring enchants.
Move over to the Spellbound Shatter specialization, and place 5 points in the main wheel to unlock a sub-specialization. Choose Responsible Resources and fill that wheel out, to get materials back when crafting.
Swap back to the Spellbound Shatter main wheel and spend 10 more points here. Then unlock Infinite Ingenuity, and fill up this wheel completely.
Now return to Elevating Equipment and choose which enchants to go for next. From this point on you place your points as you like.
Where to Obtain Knowledge Points
You earn a knowledge point every time you craft a new recipe. In addition you can earn knowledge points weekly from several sources which we have in the table below.
| Knowledge Source | Knowledge Points |
| Weekly Quest | 3 |
| Disenchanting | 9 |
| Repeatable Treasures and Drops | 2 |
| Thalassian Treatise on Enchanting | 1 |
Profession Treasures
There are a total of 8 profession treasures scattered around Midnight Zones, which award a one time only 3 knowledge points each. We have a full guide with their locations in our Profession Treasures Location Guide.
Faction Profession Knowledge
Once you reach renown 6 with Silvermoon Court in Eversong Woods, you can buy 10 Enchanting Knowledge from Caeris Fairdawn for 75 Artisan’s Enchanter's Moxie and 750 Voidlight Marl.
Darkmoon Faire
When Darkmoon Faire is active, you can gain 2 skill points and 3 knowledge points by completing a short quest from Sayge called Writing the Future.
We recommend leaving this as late as possible to get the most value out of the increased skill points.
Best Race for the Enchanting Profession
While all races are perfectly fine for Enchanting, a few have some bonuses that will have a minor impact.
- Blood Elf - Their Arcane Affinity increases Enchanting skill by 5.
- Kul Tiran - Have Jack of All Trades which increases all profession skills by 2.
Best Professions to Pair with Enchanting
We recommend pairing Enchanting with Tailoring or Inscription as these both farm and craft resources which you can disenchant.
We hope this Enchanting Profession leveling guide helped you get started with this crafting profession. For more Midnight content you can check out all of our Midnight Guides.
