Midnight Jewelcrafting Profession Guide: Leveling, Changes and Knowledge Builds

Written by Roguery - 26th February 2026

Jewelcrafting in Midnight is one of the more difficult professions to level, requiring a lot of materials and thus costing a lot of gold. For seasoned jewelcrafters this is nothing surprising, as it’s pretty much how jewelcrafting has always been. In this guide we cover the few changes Jewelcrafting has received, how to level your Midnight Jewelcrafting and recommend a few starter builds.

New to Midnight Jewelcrafting

Jewelcrafting received very few changes, mostly just streamlining a few crafting processes.

Only Two ranks of Materials - Ore, gems and other materials only come in 2 ranks now, as opposed to 3 ranks in recent expansions.

Prospecting Limitations - In the War Within it was possible to spend knowledge in a way that both types of common ore would prospect into every type of gem. This is no longer possible when it comes to blue quality gems. There are still 4 gem colours and two of them drop from prospecting Umbral Tin and the other two from prospecting Brilliant Silver.

Less Reagents - In general Jewelcrafting has a reduction in the amount of reagents it will need to craft. One example is the removal of the Engraved Gemcutter material which appeared in The War Within. This was needed to cut gems but is now no longer a requirement. Now cutting gems just needs a gem and some Gemdust.

Additional Knowledge Tree - Midnight Jewelcrafting has four knowledge trees, instead of the three in The War Within. With one dedicated to Prospecting and Crushing, another to crafting Gems, one for powerful Jewellry and finally one for better production in all of the trees.

Decor and Lumber - At level 80 Midnight Jewelcrafting you will learn several decor recipes for housing. The recipes are expensive to craft and we have not recommended crafting them as part of our leveling guides. However if you know you want to make them for your own house, or to sell on the AH, remember to gather lumber as you level your character.

Moxie - As you gain knowledge you will also be gaining Moxie; which is the currency in Midnight for which you buy new recipes. Unlike Artisan's Acuity in the War Within, Moxie is now gathered separately for each profession, and you can’t use currency gained from one profession to “feed” into recipes for another profession. Moxie is also not used for recrafting gear, or crafting profession gear; just purely for buying from vendors.

Epic Profession Equipment - All professions will now have access to epic quality profession equipment. The uncommon green gear can still be bought and sold on the AH, while the rare and epic gear is Bind on Pickup and has to be ordered through the work order system. None of these crafts require Moxie.

Jewelcrafting Trainer Location

Midnight Materials Overview

These are the new Jewelcrafting materials in Midnight.

The new ore important to Jewelcrafting are:

The table below shows what gems you will receive from prospecting each ore type. You will also commonly receive Duskshrouded Stone and Crystalline Glass.

Ore Gem’s Received
Refulgent Copper Ore Sanguine Garnet, Harandar Peridot, Amani Lapis, Tenebrous Amethyst
Umbral Tin Ore Harandar Peridot, Tenebrous Amethyst, Flawless Harandar Peridot, Flawless Tenebrous Amethyst,
Brilliant Silver Ore Sanguine Garnet, Amani Lapis, Sanguine Garnet, Amani Lapis,
Dazzling Thorium All Gems and a small chance to get a Eversong Diamond

Note: With knowledge points you can unlock a small chance to gain Eversong Diamond from all types of ore.

All gems can be individually crushed for a Duskshrouded Stone, and three of a gem can be crushed to produce Glimmering Gemdust. The quality and variety of gem doesn’t affect how much gemdust you receive. It will always be between 1 and 3.

Other frequently used reagents are:

Leveling Midnight Jewelcrafting

Here we cover how to level your Midnight Jewelcrafting to max, with a focus on gaining knowledge while spending as little gold and resources as possible. The first 60 levels are going to be fairly easy, while the last 40 will be difficult to find the crafts for, especially early on.

Since prospecting is a gamble, and you need specific materials to level up, we recommend purchasing the materials from the auction house. We believe this is cheaper and easier than prospecting endless ore.

Profession Equipment

Before leveling your profession, you want to pick up some profession equipment. You can purchase some green equipment from the auction house, although availability early on in the expansion may be lower.

The Farstrider Clampers, Silvermoon Loupes and Apprentice Jeweler's Apron are all great starting points, and the Loupes you will craft yourself if you follow our guide.

When you upgrade your gear to blue or epic quality we recommend upgrading the Clamps, the Loupes and finally the Apron.

List of Materials Required

These are all the materials required to follow our guide to Midnight Jewelcrafting level 80.

1-20 Prospecting and Crushing

To start leveling Jewelcrafting you will be prospecting ore until the recipe goes grey at 15.

Then crush whichever gems you have the most of to get two Glimmering Gemdust. This is usually 2 casts.

Craft a Sunglass Vial, and then Silvermoon Loupes and equip them. This should get you to level 20.

20-60 Crafting Gems & Jewellery

Return to the trainer and learn new recipes. Craft 20 items in the following order to maximize skill point gains, as the recipes go yellow at different times. Return to the trainer whenever you are missing a specific recipe.

This should bring you to level 60 Midnight Jewelcrafting.

60 - 80 Stabilizing Gemstone Bandolier

From 60 onward it can be very difficult to find recipes which give skillups.

Our preferred strategy is to try and get the Stabilizing Gemstone Bandolier recipe which drops from delves or can be bought off the AH. We managed to get the drop quite easily during testing, but it is possible that it will not be as available on live.

If you have the recipe: Craft 20 x Stabilizing Gemstone Bandolier to hit level 80. At this point the recipe turns yellow and you can learn decor recipes from the trainer.

If you don’t have the recipe: One option is to specialize in Jewellery and pick up either the Masterwork Sin'dorei Band or Masterwork Sin'dorei Amulet recipe. This will cost a lot more materials than crafting the Bandolier, but hopefully you will be able to catch some work orders where the mats are provided.

80 - 100 Spark and Fused Vitality Recipes

At 80 there are a few options:

  • Continue crafting Stabilizing Gemstone Bandolier until the recipe goes green at 90, and stays green until 100. This could however cost a lot of materials for making multitudes of Bandoliers you may not be able to sell.
  • Another way is to use the mentioned Masterwork Sin'dorei Band or Masterwork Sin'dorei Amulet recipe.
  • You can also pick up one of the epic profession tool recipes from the recipe vendor. However, the recipes cost Moxie and a Fused Vitality, so it depends on if you think it’s worth spending that.

Starter Jewelcrafting Knowledge Build

Jewelcrafting in Midnight will have several builds that you can pursue. We have outlined what we think will be a great starting point for your initial points.

25 - Thoughtful Throughput

The Thoughtful Throughput tree buffs all Jewelcrafting recipes making it a great first pick. We recommend placing your first 5 knowledge points in the wheel to pick a sub-specialization. Pick the left tree, Skilled savings, and fill out all 30 points. This will give you 12.2% Resourcefulness and increase the amount of materials you receive when you do get a proc. After this you will need to decide what specialization you want.

Alluring Accessories Build

In this build you will be focusing on crafting Jewellery: Rings, Necks and Profession Equipment. This will open up a lot of options for work orders, where the NPCs may help you gain some levels by sending most of the mats in the orders.

To start, unlock the Alluring Accessories at 50 and place 30 points to unlock all sub-specializations and learn corresponding recipes.

Move back to the Thoughtful Throughput specialization and place 10 points to unlock a 2nd sub-specialization. Take the Calculated Concentration, which means you will gain a large amount of ingenuity and will be refunded a lot more concentration when you do get Ingenuity procs.

Then return to Alluring Accessories, and place 15 points in Regal Rings and Luxurious Lockets. This means you will be able to craft both the Masterwork Sin'dorei Amulet and Masterwork Sin'dorei Band at the best rank when concentrating, and be able to add embellishments.

Once you have fully filled both the Regal Rings and Luxurious Lockets you can move onto the Crafting Couture Wheel. After this you’re on your own.

Proficient Processor Build

This build is focusing on Prospecting and Crushing, and turning raw materials into valuable resources that you can either use or sell on the Auction House.

To start, take the Proficient Processor as your second specialisation and place 10 points in the main wheel to unlock a sub-specialization. Choose Prospecting Pro, and further sub-specialize into a specific ore. Pick whichever ore you have the most of or prefer. On Beta the wheels for the specific ores were a single point. If that remains at launch, put a single point in to be able to find Eversong Diamond.

Now put 10 more points in Proficient Processor to unlock a 2nd specialization. Pick Crushing Connoisseur to increase your skill with crushing. Here we recommend filling out either this node, or if the specific Ore you picked above has more than one point to it, fill that out first.

Finally put points into Proficient Processor, to unlock the last sub-specialization, Material Manufacturer. From this point on you can continue to specialize in any of the nodes in Proficient Processor. If you decide to do Boldly Basic and Optionally Optimal the bottom node Outrageous Output, in Thoughtful Throughput gains a lot of value.

Glamorous Gems Build

This build is focused on crafting gems. It takes a lot of knowledge to get all of the recipes, which will take time to accumulate. This means you have to make decisions about which gems you want to go for. In general, versatility heavy gems are usually less popular than the other three gems, but it is impossible to know how the stat weights will land for all classes.

To start, choose the Glamorous Gems as your 2nd specialization. Place 30 points to unlock all four sub-specilizations, which means you will be able to learn a gem of each colour. We suggest picking Quick or Deadly gems as these are generally more popular.Go into the Thoughtful Throughput tree and place 10 more points to unlock a sub-specialization. Pick Outrageous Output and place 30 points here to buff your Multicraft.

Now you can start filling out the wheels in Glamorous Gems to either craft higher quality gems, or unlock more recipes.

Where to Obtain Knowledge Points for Midnight Jewelcrafting

You earn a knowledge point every time you craft a new recipe. In addition you can earn knowledge points weekly from several sources which we have in the table below.

Patron Crafting Orders 16
Repeatable Treasures and Drops 4
Thalassian Treatise on Jewelcrafting 1

Profession Treasures

There are a total of 8 profession treasures scattered around Midnight Zones, which award a one time only 3 knowledge points each. We have a full guide with their locations in our Profession Treasures Location Guide.

Faction Profession Knowledge

Once you reach renown 6 with Silvermoon Court in Eversong Woods, you can buy 10 Jewelcrafting Knowledge from Caeris Fairdawn for 75 Artisan’s Jewelcrafter’s Moxie and 750 Voidlight Marl.

Darkmoon Faire

When Darkmoon Faire is active you can gain 2 skill points and 3 knowledge points; through a short quest from Chronos called Keeping the Faire Sparkling.

We recommend leaving this as late as possible to get the most value out of the increased skill points.

Best Race for the Jewelcrafting Profession

While all races are perfectly fine for Jewelcrafting, a few have some bonuses that will have a minor impact.

  • Draenei - Their Gemcutting increases Jewelcrafting skill by 5.
  • Kul Tiran - Have Jack of All Trades which increases all profession skills by 2.

Best Professions to Pair with Jewelcrafting

We recommend pairing Jewelcrafting with Mining to collect your own resources, or either Engineering or Blacksmithing as they use the same resources.

We hope this Jewelcrafting Profession leveling guide helped you get started with this crafting profession. For more Midnight content you can check out all of our Midnight Guides.
