Strengths & Weaknesses of Shaman in WoW Forever

Recommended Leveling Talents for Shaman in WoW Forever

There are a few key talents you can look forward to in the early stages of your leveling journey. Mental Dexterity makes Intellect much more useful by making it give you Attack Power.

Improved Ghost Wolf reduces the cast time of Ghost Wolf, making it an instant cast when you have 2/2 points in the talent. You want to make sure you have 2/2 points in this Talent before reaching level 20, as that's when you learn Ghost Wolf.

At level 25, you can get Stormstrike, which makes your damage rotation much more engaging.

Shaman Playstyle and Core Abilities

Enhancement is the strongest leveling specialization for Shamans in WoW: Forever. You’re a melee spec with a ton of utility from your totems, off-heals, and Earth Shock, which has a triple function as damage spell, taunt and interrupt.

Basic Rotation

For the most part, you’ll be pulling one mob at a time. Your basic rotation is pretty simple: apply Flame Shock, drop Searing Totem, and start meleeing while using Frost Shock or Earth Shock when they’re available. Re-apply Flame Shock once the DoT runs out.

Levels 1-30

You’ll generally want to use either a 2H or a 1H + shield with Rockbiter Weapon on your weapon. Rockbiter Weapon gives you a huge amount of Attack Power at these levels and is much better than Flametongue Weapon or Frostbrand Weapon.

Levels 30+

Once you hit 30, you’ll want to switch to a 2H with Windfury Weapon. When Windfury Weapon procs, it can hit extremely hard, and honestly, there’s not much more satisfying than watching those big numbers pop up.

Key Abilities

Flame Shock, Frost Shock, and Earth Shock all have their own uses. For pure damage, you can switch between them depending on which ranks you have available at your current level. Earth Shock is especially useful as your interrupt, while Frost Shock gives you a slow when you need it.

Earthbind Totem is also incredibly useful. You can drop it to kite mobs, or use it to stop mobs from running away when they’re low on health. It’s especially useful in dungeons, for mob control.

Fire Nova is your main burst AoE ability. It deals a large amount of Fire damage around the Fire Totem you have placed, making it great when you have multiple mobs stacked together, but also deals solid single target damage.

Ghost Wolf is fantastic from levels 20-39. With Improved Ghost Wolf, it becomes an instant cast and gives you 40% movement speed, making you one of the fastest classes in Azeroth between those levels.

Rage Of The Farseer is a personal Bloodlust. It gives you both attack speed and cast speed, making it incredibly powerful. You can use it to burst down mobs, get some extra healing out when you’re in trouble, or simply take on slightly larger pulls than you normally would.

Best / Suggested Professions for Shaman

Profession 1: Leatherworking

Lets you craft very powerful gear while leveling, such as Dark Leather Boots around level 10, Brawler's Leather Hood around level 20.

Profession 2: Skinning

Allows you to collect the required materials to craft your leatherworking gear.

Secondary Professions

Cooking allows you to make food which gives you a 15-minute buff that increases experience gained from killing mobs by 5%.

First aid lets you make bandages which are a great way to heal yourself when you’re low on mana and don’t want to sit around waiting for it to regenerate.

Other Shaman Specific Leveling Info

Stat Prio:

Agility > Strength > Stamina > Intellect

If you're on the PvP server and experiencing World PvP, I suggest aiming for gear with stamina combined with Agility, Strength, or Intellect.

Don't be afraid to tank dungeons as a Shaman while leveling, so long as you have access to a 1-hander and shield. You generate solid threat with Rockbiter Weapon and Earth Shock. Fire Nova now generates threat to you instead of your Searing Totem and Magma Totem compared to original Classic, which enables you to generate decent AOE threat.
