Mechanical Parts are a common crafting material/resource in Dune Awakening that are used primarily to craft weapons.
The tooltip tells us that Mechanical Parts can be found within "Great House ruins." What this really means is that Mechanical Parts are most commonly found within Shipwrecks in Hagga Basin & the Deep Desert.

Buying Mechanical Parts from Vendors
Mechanical Parts are also a very common purchasable resource; you'll find them at Trading Posts and in social hubs. Specifically, you'll want to look at the Scrap Vendors at Arrakeen or Harko Village, who sell them in stacks of 50 for 750 Solari per piece. You can also purchase them from all four Tradepost Merchants in stacks of 50 at 750 Solari each.
Alternatively, you can of course also just buy them directly from the Exchange.
Farming Mechanical Parts in Dune Awakening
In the image above, we have highlighted all of the Shipwreck locations in the Hagga Basin. Two of the best spots to farm Mechanical Parts in Hagga Basin is the Wreck of the Pallas in Western Vermillius Gap and Wreck of the Delphis in the Sheol. Each of these larger shipwrecks contain a tonne of Containers with Mechanical Parts.
Due to the area's higher level of danger with radiation, the Sheol Shipwrecks in general have a higher loot yield for Mechanical Parts. This can make a quick run through Sheol quite efficient.
Finally, as with most resources in the game, The Deep Desert is also an excellent source to farm Mechanical Parts if you have reached the end-game, since the Shipwrecks in Row A are abundant and contain tonnes of Mechanical Parts.

The 'Mechanical Parts' Landsraad Task is one of the Landsraad's ‘deliver’ tasks that involves collecting a certain number of Mechanical Parts and handing them in for a Landsraad Reward.
Delivery of Mechanical Parts is one of the easier tasks, since you are able to just acquire the resource from Vendors (albeit that will be quite expensive).
This task can also paired well with other Landsraad Tasks (like Blade Parts or Armor Plating) or incorporating it into another farming route that involves going into Shipwrecks.
Pro Tip: Mechanical Parts award 17 points each, so without any bonuses, 618 will be needed for a Tier 4 Lansdraad reward.
