Respeccing in Dune Awakening is fairly simple, and the game encourages players to experiment with their playstyle freely.
In Dune Awakening, your ability to change your playstyle is a key part of how the game works. Although you are locked into your first class pick, you can change what Talents you have. When it comes to your second class, you can move talents around fairly freely, and pick the skills you need in any given moment.
In this guide, we'll look to answer the key questions around respecing: how does it work and what, if any, limitations does it have?

Can You Respec in Dune Awakening and Change Your Classes
Yes, you can respec in Dune: Awakening. The game gives you ways to adjust your build if you change your mind; thankfully, Dune Awakening is very forgiving. On the Talent UI, you will see the "Respec Skill Tree" button, which can be done with the "R" key on PC. For now, this seems to be freely doable, with limited restrictions, most notably just that you are not in combat.
Note: This information is from the beta, and in both closed beta and open beta, respeccing was freely available. This information is based on that, though things might change.
How Does Changing Secondary Class Work in Dune Awakening
There are no fixed classes in Dune Awakening; instead, it uses a skill-based system. This lets you change the style of play you want. With your primary class, this means moving between the different disciplines, given the situation you are in. Similarly, this works for secondary classes, allowing you to move from Swordmaster to Mentat on the fly, as you move between different parts of the game.
Because it’s not locked into set classes, the game feels more open. You’re not picking “Warrior” or “Mage,” you’re picking how you want to survive on Arrakis. Do you need to do some PvP, then swap in the PvP class like a Bene Gesserit. If we need to do some farming, then move over to the Planetologist. Don't forget that the Planetologist needs to be unlocked first.
Can You Change Classes in Dune Awakening?
There’s no single “change class” option because the game doesn’t use strict classes. But changing your build by switching skills or disciplines is basically the same thing. You can see it as having Mentat or Swordmaster as your second class, but you can also mix and match, using the best of all four secondary classes to aid your primary class.
Can you Change Your Primary Class?
This is the only thing that's strictly locked down. While you can still respec your primary class, if you pick Trooper in the character creation, you are stuck playing a Trooper.
Early Choices can be Changed, so Experiment
Lastly, just remember that these things can be changed. In the early game, play around with things and see what works for you. Is combat a struggle? Then, lean into that more. If you want more control, maybe specify the effects of crowd control. It's important not to let the small things stress you out. When you get to the mid or late game, then you can worry about making sure you have the best skills and abilities for each situation.
Respec Cooldown
In a pre-release Q&A on YouTube, Funcom confirmed that the respect window is "once every 48 hours or so." This might change when the game is released, and it isn't clear if, in the early levels, this time is slightly lower or not.
