The buggy is a great (and often underrated) vehicle in Dune Awakening. Many players rush straight to the ornithopter but you're missing out on an ore-farming machine if you do that!
The buggy does take a while to craft, so it can delay your acquisition of the ornithopter. However, there is actually a way to get a buggy for free in the second zone. While it is damaged, it will drive, and you can upgrade it later or add new parts.
Here is the buggy in action, it's a little rough, but it will do for now.
How to Get A Free Buggy in Dune Awakening

We're going to be travelling to Jabal Eifrit Al-janub and specifically to, Kant's Tower, shown in the image above. This is a large base and at the base there will be, unless someone has taken it, a buggy. This buggy can be claimed by pressing “F” and then just driving off. Every part will be on the lowest durability possible, with just enough fuel to get you back to your base.
When you get back to your base, store it properly (under a roof) to ensure it will be safe from the storm. You can then work to fix it up over time. Just research any tier of 'Buggy Assembly' then construct the parts. Get out your Welding Torch, click Detach on the part you want to replace, then Assemble to place a better version of that part on the vehicle.
Farming with the Buggy
Now that you have the Buggy, it's time to put it to work. Equip it with a 'Buggy Storage' component, then place a 'Utility Rear' onto the Buggy so you can place a 'Buggy Cuttery' on the back. Now you can drive around, farming ore directly from your buggy which automatically drops it into your buggy's storage.
The buggy will mine ore for you at a rate that is ~3x higher than your Cutteray! That's huge and an incredible time saver.
Pro Tip: You can upgrade the yield of your buggy's Cutteray in the Planetologist 'Mechanic' skill tree, increasing the yield by a whopping 20% at level 3. Check out our Planetologist Advanced Trainer Guide to unlock this skill.
