Augmentations are a new gear-modding system introduced to Dune Awakening with Chapter 3. Augmentations allow you to increase the power of your weapons and armor significantly, at the cost of reducing their max durability.
This system can be quite confusing so we've broken everything down for you in this guide, including how you can unlock Augmentations, how you can find, construct & equip them, and which Augmentations to look out for.

How To Unlock & Equip Augmentations
Augmentations are an end-game system, so in order to begin making use of them, you'll need to be at Plastanium (mk6) tier. This is because Augmentations can only be attached to Plastanium-tier items, and you can only equip them using a Plastanium-tier structure.
Put simply:
- Augmentation blueprints/schematics are found in the new Challenge Mode Testing Stations;
- Augmentations are crafted using an Advanced Weapon or Advanced Garment Fabricator;
- Crafting Augmentations requires Schematic Patterns (Testing Stations) and Offworld Regis Compounds (Landsraad Missions);
- Offworld Regis Compounds must be converted into Regis Components using an Advanced Survival Fabricator;
- Augmentation limits on each item are determined by your 'Crafting' Specialization Tree; and
- Augmentations are slotted into an item using the Augmentation Station.
Obtaining Augmentation Blueprints/Schematics
Augmentation blueprints/schematics can currently only be obtained from Challenge Mode Testing Stations. These are Testing Stations that can be accessed via the Overland Map and can be attempted at increasing difficulties from 1-100. The rewards max out at Level 40, with subsequent levels only increasing the difficulty.

The higher the difficulty level, the better chance you have of obtaining higher Grade Augmentation blueprints.
Crafting Augmentations
Once you have learned an Augmentation blueprint, you'll be able to craft it. As with all other unique crafted items, you'll only be able to craft one Augmentation for each blueprint you find, so keep that in mind.
In order to craft the Augmentation, you'll need either an Advanced Weapons Fabricator or an Advanced Garment Fabricator. If the Augmentation is for a melee or ranged Weapon then it's the Advanced Weapons Fabricator, if it's for an armor piece then it's the Advanced Garment Fabricator,

Augmentations require quite a lot of advanced resources including two new unique materials: Schematic Patterns and Regis Components. More about those in the next section.
Equipping Augmentations
In order to attach an Augmentation to an item and begin receiving the benefit, you'll need to craft an Augmentation Station. This is a Plastanium-tier placeable that requires 75 Plastanium Ingots and 15 Spice Melange, amongst other materials.
Once you have constructed it, you'll be able to slot any crafted Augmentations into eligible items, as shown in the image below.

Note that you will only be able to attach Augmentations to items which have a free Augmentation slot. These slots are unlocked through the Crafting Specialization tree.
Schematic Patterns and Regis Components
Crafting Augmentations requires two new crafting components, Schematic Patterns and Regis Components.
Schematic Patterns
Schematic Patterns are only required for crafting Augmentations and can be found in any of the new Challenge Mode Testing Stations. They come graded (Grade 1 to Grade 5) and the Grade you receive will be based on the difficulty you run the Testing Station at.

Offworld Regis Compounds and Regis Components
Offworld Regis Compounds are acquired from the Landsraad Crafting Vendor in Arrakis (beside all of the other Landsraad vendors) for 550 House Scrip, which is earned by completion Landsraad Missions and choosing the Recollection Rewards.

Once you have purchased Offworld Regis Compounds, you can then convert them into Regis Components at an Advanced Survival Fabricator. It only costs additional water, Silicone Blocks and Cobalt Paste, and you receive 10 Regis Components for every craft.

How Do Augmentations Work?
You should note the following in respect of Augmentations:
- Augmentations cannot be removed from a weapon or armor piece once attached.
- Augmentations reduce the maximum durability of any weapon or armor piece they are attached to by 2%.
- You can only produce one Augmentation for each Augmentation blueprint you acquire.
- You can unlock additional Augmentation slots for your gear by levelling up your Crafting Specialization tree.
Best Augmentations and Augmentation Effects
You can find a full list of all Augmentations at our Augmentation database.
We'll update this section for what we consider to be the best Augmentations following further testing. For now, here's a few to look out for:
- Blade Sharpener: Increases the Damage of any melee weapon by up to 70% at Grade 5.
- Disruptive Coating: Increases the Shield Damage of any ranged weapon by up to 20% at Grade 5.
- Capacity Expander: Increases the ammo capacity of any ranged weapon by up to 50%, at a cost of an increase in weapon volume (weight).
- Penetrative Reinforcement: Reduces dart damage taken, but increases blade damage taken.
