Keeping your base powered is critical in Dune Awakening. It is what keeps your base protected, both from other players and from the environment (storms). Thankfully, it's fairly easy to get on top of once you get going.
Power is one of the key survival 'resources' you have to manage in Dune Awakening alongside water and taxation. In this guide we'll show you how to navigate this challenge efficiently and effectively, so you don't have to worry about your base staying safe.

Different Options To Power Your Base In Dune Awakening
We have four different types of power-generating machinery we can produce in Dune Awakening:
- Fuel-Powered Generator: Uses Fuel Cells to generate 75 Power. A solid staple and not to be dismissed, even as you progress through the game. Requires a lot of space and ongoing management of Fuel Cells.
- Omnidirectional Turbine: Built outside your base, uses Low-grade Lubricant to generate 150 Power.
- Directional Turbine: Built outside your base, uses Industrial-grade Lubricant to generate 350 Power.
- Spice-Power Generator: Uses 'Spice-infused Fuel Cells' to generate 1,000 Power. Requires both Fuel Cells and Spice Residue (a by-product of refining Spice Sand into Spice Melange).
Breaking Down The Options - Most Efficient Methods
It is natural to assume that as you progress throughout Dune Awakening, you will also progress to using higher tier power-generating options. However, let's consider if that is really the case. Spoiler - it is not!
Caveat to this entire section: if you are a large, competitive guild then your power demands for a guild base may be such that space and access to Fuel Cells really does become a greater constraint, in which case, the value of the higher tier machines will be greater. This section is catered towards all solo players and small-medium guilds/groups.
Most Efficient Method: Fuel-Powered Generators
The very first Generator we get presented with is actually, by far, the most efficient way to keep your base powered. These generators cost 45 Salvaged Metal, which means they are almost free to build, and provide 75 Power for 1 hour, for 1 Fuel Cell.
To generate 1,000 Power for one day, we would need 14 Fuel-Powered Generators, at a cost of 630 Salvaged Metal and 336 Fuel Cells. Considering we can get 500+ Fuel Cells from a single Fuel Cell cluster using a Buggy Cutteray, this means that the cost of powering your base using these generators is trivial.
The real cost to using Fuel-Powered Generators is actually space, but using the Staking Units, you can expand your base so significantly that filling up one basement room with Generators is typically no problem.
Pro Tip: You might think that managing all of these Generators and Fuel Cells must be a nightmare? Wrong! You can actually automatically distribute all Fuel Cells to your Generators evenly at your Advanced Sub-Fief. You just navigate to the Console tab and hold down Y on your keyboard.
Acceptable Method: Turbines
Maybe you want to keep your base neat and tidy, maybe you don't want to build a large number of Fuel-Powered Generators (you'll need 40-50 towards the late game) or maybe you just love Turbines. Whatever the reason, if you don't want to opt for Fuel-Powered Generators, then Turbines are your next best bet, specifically Omnidirectional Turbines.
Both Turbines consume Lubricants which require various resources to produce including Silicone Blocks (Omnidirectional) and even Spice Residue (Directional). This, combined with the significant construction cost, make the Turbines much less efficient than the Fuel-Powered Generators. However, they do look pretty nice, so there's that.
Flex (But Inefficient) Method: Spice-Powered Generators
You've reached the super-late game and you just want to show off, so you construct a few of these bad boys to show everyone you mean business. Requiring a whopping 270 Spice Melange (27,000 Spice Dust) and 430 Plastanium Ingots just to construct, this is not going to be an efficient means of producing Power in any situation.
Managing Power In Dune Awakening: Tips
Go On Fuel Cell Buggy Runs
By far the fastest and most efficient way to gather/farm Fuel Cells in Dune Awakening is to jump in your Buggy and go and mine them using your Buggy Cutteray. You will be able to gather ~500-700 Fuel Cells dependent upon your Skills and Cutteray level, which is many times more efficient than using your own Cutteray. Remember to take the Vehicle Mining Passive in the Planetologist Skill Tree.
Conserving Power By Turning Off Your Machinery
If you want to min-max when it comes to power conservation, you can actually turn off any machinery (fabricators, refineries etc) in your base that is not being used. Honestly, it's often more hassle than it's worth but it can be useful if you accidentally exceeded your power limit by constructing a new building and you want to ensure you are protected immediately.
