The Lost Harvest DLC, which launched in September 2025, introduced a new vehicle to Dune Awakening: The Treadwheel.
The Treadwheel is a ground vehicle which is very similar to the Sandbike in many ways. It has the same Inventory size and similar stats, but upon closer inspection, The Treadwheel actually has some advantages over the Sandbike.
Note: In order to access this vehicle you must either purchase the Lost Harvest DLC or the Dune Awakening Season Pass.
NOTE: This guide has been created with information from the PTR and will be updated when Chapter 2 launches.
How To Unlock The Treadwheel
Unlike the Sandbike which unlocks at Mk1, The Treadwheel starts at Mk4 (Aluminum tier) with a Mk5 and Mk6 equivalent.
If you have the Lost Harvest DLC, you will be able to unlock The Treadwheel by progressing through the new quest line.
The Treadwheel is not a Sandbike Variant. It is a completely new vehicle with completely new individual parts that must be fabricated at the Vehicle Fabricator and then assembled.
Treadwheel Stats
Let's start with the Treadwheel components which are the same as their Sandbike equivalents. These are:
- Inventory
- PSU
- Chassis
- Hull
- Boost Module
Important to note there is that the Inventory is the same size: 500v.
There are however two important differences between the Sandbike and The Treadwheel, and they arise from the Engine and the Treads.
Treadwheel Engine
The Treadwheel has a slower Top Speed than the Sandbike, maxing out at 96 km/h vs the Sandbike's 108 km/h (at Mk6). However, the Treadwheel has much better Acceleration, with an Acceleration rating of 'Very Fast', compared to the Sandbike's 'Fast'.
This means that unless you are traversing long distances on the Sandbike, the Treadwheel comes out on top as it is much quicker to get going.
Treadwheel Treads
The other key difference between the Treadwheel and the Sandbike is in the Treads. The Treadwheel has a MUCH lower Grip rating than the Sandbike which gives it a sort of 'floating' feeling as you scoot around.
This might seem like a negative at first but it is actually core to how the Treadwheel drives, allowing you to pull off awesome manoeuvres like a 180 spin without really slowing down.
The Treadwheel Treads also have a slightly lower vibration (13.5 vs 15) which is helpful for avoiding Sandworms.
