How to Fast Travel in Dune Awakening

The world of Arrakis is massive and can be difficult to traverse, especially in the earlier stages of the game. Thankfully, Dune Awakening does have a Fast Travel feature of sorts to make this a little easier.

The Fast Travel system is easy to miss if you’re rushing through quests, so you might be wondering how you haven't come across it yet, but don't worry, all the information you need is below.

Unlocking Fast Travel in Dune Awakening

You’ll unlock fast travel when you visit Griffin’s Reach Tradepost as part of the main quest called “A Touch of Civilisation”. Once you get there, you’ll pick up a side quest called A Wider World. It’ll point you to an ornithopter pilot who’s tucked away in a corner of the main building near the merchant and contract board. Below, you can see the placement of the fast travel vendor.

Talk to them, and you’ll unlock the ability to fly between cities and tradeposts you’ve already visited. It will also let you visit the two “hub cities” of the two main factions. Fast Travel is not instant travel from your map screen; you have to actually visit the pilots in person to travel. Once you’ve unlocked the locations however, they’re available for future trips.

The system is not free. It's actually quite expensive and costs between 2,500 and 6,000 Solari per trip, but the return trip is free.

Once you’ve unlocked the pilot, you’ll be able to travel to a few set places. These include:

  • Arrakeen – the Atreides stronghold
  • Harko Village – the Harkonnen base
  • Hagga Basin – lets you pick from key sites you’ve already explored in the region. This is basically the main travel option.

You can only fast-travel to places you’ve already been, so it’s worth checking out tradeposts as you explore new areas. That way, you can save time later on when you need to bounce between quests or regroup with your faction.

Fast Travel isn’t the only way to get Around

Fast travel is useful, but it’s not the only option as you’ll eventually get access to your own ornithopter. This is great for travelling outside of settlements or when you’re heading into places that aren’t linked by the fast travel network.

You’ll still want to keep a mental map of the world, though. Not every area is connected, and you can’t just skip your way across a dangerous zone. There’s still a lot of on-foot travel involved, especially if you’re farming resources or exploring for missions.
