As you head towards the late game in Dune Awakening, you'll unlock 'Duraluminum Products'. These can be researched when you have spent 700 Intel in total and are very powerful items, only surpassed by Plastanium Products.
In order to craft Duraluminum products, you'll need to first refine Duraluminum Ingots at your Medium Refinery. These require both Aluminum Ingot (1) and Jasmium Crystal (4) on top of a whopping 500 water. So how exactly do you get Jasmium Crystals?
Well Jasmium Crystals can only be found in one location on the map, and unlike the other ores you have mined so far in the game, these are in very dangerous territory. The Jasmium Crystals are located in Sheol, which is a highly radioactive area covering the very bottom left corner of the map.
This entire location is irradiated and as such, you need to come prepared.
How to Prepare Before Mining Jasmium Crystals
Without the proper gear, you will quickly suffer radiation poisoning. Radiation is lethal in Dune Awakening and it will kill you immediately once your radiation hits 100%. You can see your radiation level via a small icon on the bottom left of the screen. Once your radiation level hits 75% the bar will appear 'full' and at that point you need to get out of there fast.
To allow you to stay for as long as possible mining, you'll need to craft a Mk4 Radiation Suit. The suit requires:
- 35 Aluminum Ingots
- 21 Plasteel Microflora Fibre
- 25 Silicone Block
This provides 90% radiation protection and should allow you to do a decent mining run before you need to leave.
You will also need an Industrial Cutteray Mk4 in order to mine the Jasmium Crystals at all.
Once you have done a trip there and collected some Jasmium Crystals, you can also research Iodine Pills (Exploration section of Research) which are crafted in the Survival Fabricator and provides a further 3% radiation mitigation.
What To Look For When You Get to Sheol
Sheol is a desolate landscape with a bunch of rocky outcrops. You'll want to venture inside these rocky outcrops to find small pools of radiated water. Within those pools, Jasmium Crystals have formed.
It's quite a cool zone and definitely captures the feel of being in a highly irradiated wasteland, but you'll also probably feel like leaving as soon as you get there!
Pro Tip: There is a crater in the centre of Sheol (you can see it in the map posted earlier in this guide) which contains a cluster of around 6-7 nodes of Jasmium Crystals together. This can allow you to farm extremely fast but beware because just being in this crater will skyrocket your radiation levels!
