Where to Find and Farm Erythrite Crystals in Dune Awakening

Written by Geekmandem - 22nd June 2025

Erythrite Crystals are an extremely important crafting material throughout Dune Awakening, and this is because they are required to refine Cobalt Paste.

Naturally, this means you are going to need a steady supply of Erythrite throughout the game. The good news is that once you get your Ornithopter, this becomes easy. The bad news is... well, time to get ready for Hagga Rfit!

When it comes to the hardest to farm ores in Dune Awakening, Erythrite Crystal is the hardest outside of those in the Deep Desert; this is because they spawn exclusively in the Hagga Rift zone, a giant multi-layer valley.

Where Can I Find Erythrite Crystals?

Erythrite Crystals are only found in one zone - Hagga Rift. Specifically, they are found within the CHOAM Mineral Extraction Facilities that pepper the chasm of the Rift.

The CHOAM Mineral Extraction Facilities are a collection of mining shafts, caverns, and tunnels that penetrate the depths of Hagga Rift and can only be accessed from deep entry points. You can see from the image above the issue you face as you travel the rift. The area is huge, and the valley carves out a massive area of the map.

As mentioned in the opener, when you get your Ornithopter, this becomes trivial as you can just fly down to the entrance. Unfortunately, you will need Cobalt Paste long before you have your Ornithopter, including to build your Ornithopter, so you can either buy it all from the Exchange or you can make your way into Hagga Rift on foot.

How To Navigate Hagga Rift

You can see the ideal entry point to the Hagga Rift on the left image above. In-game, this area is part of a Harkonnen stronghold, but it gives you a perfect viewpoint of where to enter.

Depending on where you built your base, you will most likely be entering Hagga Rift from the west or southeast. Either way, you'll want to take the shortest possible route to the closest CHOAM Mineral Extraction Facility. You can see what the entrance to these look like below, note that they can appear on multiple levels of the Hagga Rift, though they are usually well lit.

Pro Tip: If you also want to optimize the efficiency of your trip, consider heading towards The Spiral or Arctus Cavern where you will also be able to pick up a whole bunch of Ray Amplifiers.

We would recommend travelling light and only taking a vehicle that can be stored in your Vehicle Backup Tool. That means you need a Sandbike if you don't have your Ornithopter yet. The reason for this is that trying to get your Buggy in and out of the multi-layered Hagga Rift is going to be a very slow and frustrating process. Most likely, you are going to end up doing a lot of climbing to get back out.

Alternatively, put a Storage unit on your Sandbike and try to fill it with Erythrite Crystals before you leave. If you drive along the ground level of the chasm for long enough, you will see ramps you can use to enter or exit.

Pro tip: Light is your friend in the Hagga Rift, many caves and exit ramps are well lit with either the large blue lights in the CHOAM Mineral Extraction site or smaller yellow lights.

How Do I Mine Erythrite Crystals?

To mine Erythrite, you’ll need at least a Cutteray Mk2. Anything lower won't work. Higher tier Cutteray's like the Mk3 or Mk4 will give you more Crystals per node and speed up the process.

Make sure to bring:

  • At least a Mk2 Cutteray
  • A Personal Lamp (caves get dark fast)
  • Water or a Stillsuit, as we'll be outside for a while
  • Some sort of vehicle, ideally a Sandbike and a Vehicle Backup Tool
  • A Leap (or Full) Suspensor Belt to help get out of the Hagga Rift easier
