Flour Sand is one of the most important early game resources in Dune Awakening. It’s also one of the hardest to get thanks to its common spawns being inside the worm zone.
During the Second Trial of ACL, we are given a new item to play around with. This trial centres around a new tool named the Static Compactor. You will receive it immediately after the NPC concludes their initial dialogue. This tool allows you to absorb sand, fire, and poison gas.
However, this tool serves a purpose after the trial, and once we fabricate one with our 10 Iron Ingots ( 40 Iron Ore and 250 Water) and 7 EMF Generators, we can begin to find Flour Sand.
Flour Sand in Dune Awakening
As seen above, this is what a Flour Sand spawn will look like. As you can see, they are not in the safest places, which is the first major issue when it comes to farming this resource. Now, you can farm it by hand, but it’s very slow, and you don’t get a lot.
The Static Compactor is key here. However, it is very loud, and the Sandworm will come. This is made especially hard as Flour Sand can spawn on top of Drum Sand, meaning the Worm is almost guaranteed to come and get you.
Thankfully, there are a few spots where we can farm this quickly, without getting killed.
Flour Sand Farm Spot
There are a few of these locations, and the respawn rate isn’t known; however, above is a good spot. Located next to the Eastern Vermillius Gap north of the starting zone, we found at least two spawns here.
Crucially, these spawn points are on the absolute edge of the Worm, meaning you can farm them easily without issue from the Worm. In the above image, you can find the spot we used. Given the amount of Flour Sand here, one spawn location is more than enough. By the time we travelled back to our base (over 1000m) and came back, it seemed like the Flour Sand had almost all respawned.
As you can see above, the Flour Sand is very close to the safe spots. In fact, by the time we got to the resource location, the Sandword notice was not even showing up. This location is ideal, just drive your bike down, load it up with Flour, Sand and head off back on your adventure.
How to Harvest Flour Sand
As you can see in this final screenshot, we are on top of the Flour Sand spot at this point, with no indication that the Sandworm is about. To actually farm the Flour Sand, just aim the Static Compactor at the location and fire it. This will drag the Flour Sand to the surface, and you can just loot it.
As we mentioned earlier, you can also just use your hands to loot the Flour Sand. However, it's incredibly slow.
