Dune Awakening Where to Farm Salvaged Fuel Cells

Farming Fuel Cells is going to be a constant thought for you when playing Dune Awakening. The fuel in your generator is key to keeping your base alive, making fuel cells as important as water when it comes to surviving.

Fuel Cells are important to your progress, from the early salvaged kind to those you’ll craft. Finding them is super important and in the early game there’s a quest to get them.

In this article we’ll go over some quick tips on where you’ll likely to find them to save you time.

Where Farm Salvaged Fuel Cells

Scavenge Wrecked Vehicles and Camps

Fuel Cells will most often be found in wrecked vehicles and scavenger camps. Use the improvised cutter during early-game mining to gather these resources. This method is particularly useful when starting out, as it doesn't require advanced equipment or facilities.

You’ll find at least one camp per rock formation, so utilise your tools and map to find them. Note that other players can strip them before you. However, you can set up your base near one and just farm the Fuel Cells.

Utilise the Resource Scanner

Employ the Resource Scanner or Survey Probe Launcher to locate areas rich in Fuel Cells. Climb to high vantage points, launch a probe, and zoom in on the map to identify exact materials, including fuel cells. This approach helps efficiently target resource-rich zones.

You can see from the map above a number of good locations in the Hagga Basin South; ideally, you want to look for enemy camps, as these will have high yields of Fuel Cells.

Refine at a Chemical Refinery

Once you've collected fuel cells, you can refine them into vehicle fuel cells at a Chemical Refinery. This process requires 25 Fuel Cells and takes approximately 15 seconds. Refined Fuel Cells are crucial for powering vehicles and enhancing your mobility across Arrakis.

While these won’t go into your power plant, this is another good use for all the fuel cells you find.

Pro Tip: Make sure to carry at least some sort of vehicle power cell with you when you travel.

To conclude, the key thing to remember is that there is not really a “Fuel Cell farm spot.” The resource is like a secondary resource in a bunch of other places. Our pro tip rule for it is, if there’s scrap metal, there’s probably Fuel Cells.

FAQ

Can Fuel Cells power my base directly?

Yes, Fuel Cells are used in generators to keep your base running. Placing them in the generator will turn them into power. To power vehicles, however, you will need to refine them first.

What's the fastest way to find Fuel Cells early on?

Search wrecked vehicles and scavenger camps with an improvised cutter. These are common early-game sources for Fuel Cells, which are often just on the ground.

Do Fuel Cells respawn in the same locations?

Not always. Other players can loot them first, so it’s smart to build near camps or use the scanner to find new spots. However, if a camp has a Fuel Cell, it will respawn a new one at some point.
