The Vaults of Atal’Utek is a new World Activity area that has been released in Patch 12.1 of WoW Midnight, this world event takes place inside of the Vaults of Atal’Utek, on The Coiled Isle Zone.
The Vaults of Atal’Utek World Event takes you deep into the prison of Ula’tek, completing a series of rotating events in the form of Temple Strikes, Temple Incursions and Ancient Foes all rewarding you with some new gear and a new currency Corrosive Coin.
Corrosive Coins can be used to purchase some of the new Mounts, Cosmetics and Decor items or be used to empower your character in the new Altar of Corrosion Player Power System.
How to Get to the Vaults of Atal’Utek
To get into the Vaults of Atal’Utek you will need to fly across from Zul’Aman or use the Coiled Isle Portal in Silvermoon and enter The Coiled Isle. When on the Coiled Isle, you will need to use any of the three entrances to the Vaults of Atal’Utek.
Participating in the Vaults of Atal’Utek
Once you have entered the Vaults of Atal’Utek, you will need to speak with Warleader Abdumati and start the quest Vaults Of Atal'utek: Certain Doom. This quest guides you around the Vaults of Atal'Utek introducing you to the various Flight Points and ways to get around the vaults. Once completed you will be able to start completing all of the various events inside of the Vaults of Atal'Utek.

After unlocking the Daily Quests, you can start earning extra rewards and reputation with the Zul’jarra’s Forces Renown.
Along with the Daily Quests there is a new Weekly Quest that can also be picked up from Warleader Abdumati; this Weekly Quest offers some great rewards, including the Trovehunter's Bounty Map, which can be used inside of Delves to unlock the Hidden Trove. This can give you the highest possible ilvl of gear from Delves (Hero Track) if used on a Tier 8 level Delve or above.
Temple Patrols
Temple Patrols are smaller solo objectives that you can complete between Temple Strikes. Each Temple Patrol lasts 10 minutes before rotating into different places and objectives around the Vaults of Atal’Utek.
Temple Patrols can be found in multiple locations across the Vaults of Atal’Utek, each offering a different objective to complete. As there are multiple Temple Patrols active, you can complete multiple of them without any restrictions, each rewarding a Handful of Corrosive Coins.
Once the 10 minutes are done, the Temple Patrols will move locations and change objectives. The best way to find the Temple Patrols will be to look at your map and find the Temple Patrol Icons on your map.
Temple Strikes
Temple Strikes are the main part of the Vaults of Atal'Utek, these are zone-wide shared objectives. There is no timer on Temple Strikes, meaning they will stay active until they have been completed. Once a Temple Strike has been completed, another one will quickly spawn somewhere else around the Vaults of Atal’Utek.
Temple Strikes reward Corroded Pouches, containing some Veteran Crests and Corrosive Coins. There are 6 different Temple Strikes with no set rotation between them, meaning after each Temple Strike completion the next Temple Strike will be completely random.
To find the active Temple Strikes, you can look for the snake head icon on your map.
Temple Incursions
Temple Incursions occur after two Temple Strikes have been completed. Temple Incursions are a shared objective with a timer attached to the event; if the Temple Incursion isn’t completed within the time limit, the Temple Incursion will fail and you will need to complete two Temple Strikes to spawn a new Temple Incursion.
Completing a Temple Incursion will reward you with a Corroded Satchel, these can contain unique items that you will need in order to unlock certain chests around the Vault of Atal’Utek for new Abilities from the Altar of Corrosion. Once a Temple Incursion has been completed, it will spawn an Ancient Foe for the next objective.
Ancient Foes
Ancient Foes are the end of a full rotation in the Vaults of Atal’Utek event, and will require you to defeat a very difficult enemy. Meaning you will likely need multiple people to defeat the Ancient Foe.
Once an Ancient Foe has been defeated, you will gain a Corrosive Satchel, like you would from the Temple Incursions, but you will also gain some Corrosive Souls. These are needed to unlock different Corrosive Abilities that you can add on to your gear from the Altar of Corrosion.
Altar of Corrosion
The Altar of Corrosion is a new Player Power System being added in WoW Patch 12.1. If you would like to learn how to Unlock the Altar of Corrosion, you can check out our Altar of Corrosion Guide.
The Altar of Corrosion adds new abilities and passives that will help you in The Coiled Isle zone. Anything gained from the Altar of Corrosion will not work inside of instanced content and will only work on The Coiled Isle.
While completing other activities inside the Vaults of Atal’Utek you will gain Corrosive Souls, these can be used at the Altar of Corrosion to unlock different passive abilities. Any Corrosive Powers you unlock will not work in some instanced content like Raids, Dungeons and PvP, but does work inside of Delves.
Corrosive Powers
Corrosive abilities can be selected at the Altar of Corrosion after completing the quest, Corrosive Gifts: Corrosive Power. This quest will start after obtaining your first Corrosive Soul from interacting with various world activities like Curse Surges, Ancient Foes, Bountiful Delves and Prey. After completing this quest you will be able to see all of the Abilities by interacting with the Altar of Corrosion and selecting the “Recite from the Corrosive Codex” option.
Each Corrosive Ability will cost 8 Corrosive Souls to unlock and a maximum of 2 abilities can be active at the same time.
