Written by Geekmandem - 24th March 2026

The quest Stolen Quarry is one that you'll pick up fairly early on in Crimson Desert. The task is simple, Liberate the Karim Quarry. Despite that, you'll definitely want to come prepared as it turns out it can be quite the challenge!

In this Stolen Quarry guide, we'll run through everything you need to know and give you a strategy for the Excavatron boss so you can defeat it easily.

Stolen Quarry Quest Overview

Region: Hernand (Northeast of Town)

Prerequisite: Complete "Troubled Count"

Primary Tasks: Clear Bleed Bandits & Defeat Excavatron

Rewards: x1 Gold Vein Map, x1 Mining Knuckledrill

How to Prepare

Before heading to Karin Quarry, it's important to make sure you are prepared. This is one of the first major difficulty spikes in the game.

  • Upgrade at Turnali in Hernand: Visit the blacksmith in Turnali (Hernand) to upgrade your sword and armour. You might need some supplies to do this, but it's well worth it.

  • Stock up on Food: Bring plenty of cooked meals to keep your health topped up through the Excavatron’s tunnelling attacks.

Strategy: Clearing the Bleed Bandits

The Karin Quarry is packed with enemies that you need to defeat to clear the progress bar. To avoid being overwhelmed:

  1. Use Explosive Barrels: Look for black barrels marked with a white X. Kliff can throw these long distances to wipe out entire groups before they aggro. You can also use your bow to shoot them.

  2. Stealth/Side Entry: Entering from the mountains behind the quarry allows you to pick off archers first and gives you a height advantage.

  3. Rescue Refugees: While fighting, look for Pailunese refugees. Untying them (or simply bumping into them) counts toward the To the Rescue quest.

  4. Persistent Progress: If you run out of health, you can retreat. The bandit progress bar stays where you left it for a long time, allowing for "chip away" tactics.

How to Defeat the Excavatron Boss

Pro Tip: As most of Excavatron's attacks can't be blocked, this is a good fight for duel-wielding or two-handed weapons to maximise your damage output.

The Excavatron is a mechanical boss that punishes you for being greedy. The key to this fight is Stamina Management and attacking quickly before retreating. Our tips are as follows:

  • The Tunnelling Attack: When the boss goes underground, do not dodge roll. You need to sprint away from him. Rolling consumes a lot more stamina.

  • The Drill Charge: After he charges in a straight line, there is a long recovery animation. This is your primary window to unleash your highest-damage skills.

  • Don't Overextend: Hit the boss 3–4 times and then back away. Its "One-Arm Jab" comes out fast and can stunlock you if you're mid-animation.

Greymane Camp Mission

As a "fun fact", if you have progressed to the point of unlocking the Greymane Camp Missions. You can actually send your comrades to clear the camp for you, and then just take down the boss yourself. It costs resources however it can save you a lot of time.
