Building a thriving homestead at the Howling Hill Greymane Camp is one of the most rewarding side activities in Crimson Desert. While the game initially suggests you can 'manually' bring animals back to your ranch, after you've done the Goat required for the tutorial, you probably won't want to build out a ranch that way. Thankfully, there is an easier way.
The secret to a full ranch isn't found by carrying animals on your back. It’s found in the relationships you build. By maxing out Trust with specific NPCs, you can unlock the ability to purchase livestock directly from Ben at your home base. In fact, it's the same system used to get your first pet.
All Ranch Animals In Crimson Desert & How To Get Them
Note: This is a living article which will continue to be updated until complete!
Here is a look at each of the animals you can obtain for your ranch, alongside which NPCs you need to gain trust with and where to find them. You will normally find each of the Ranch Managers at their ranch during the day, while they often head to the Inn at night.
Once you have reached 100 Trust with the respective NPC, you will be able to "buy" the Ranch animals from Ben at your Camp (Ranch Manager) not from the NPCs themselves. You only need to go to the NPCs to get the Trust to 100.
1. Chicks/Chickens

The first animal we'll unlock are chicks. Just talk to Ben, and you can buy your first little army of them.
- NPC: Ben (Your Ranch Manager).
- Requirement: Unlock the Ranch.
- Reward: You can purchase a few Chicks for your ranch
- Resources: Eggs - Feathers
- Butchered: Feathers - Small Bone - Lean Bird Meat
2. Pigs: Start at Home
One of the easiest unlocks is pigs. You don't even have to leave Howling Hill to start this process.
- NPC: Ben (Your Ranch Manager)
- Requirement: Reach 100 Trust with Ben.
- Reward: You can purchase Baby Pigs directly from his shop menu at the ranch
- Resources: N/A
- Butchered: Small Bone - Thin Hide - Marbled Meat
3. Cows: The Broken Rancher

To get cattle without the hassle of a long-distance cattle drive, you need to help a man who has lost his own herd.
- NPC: Bremer
- Location: Usually found at Muckroot Ranch (near Hernand Town, see image)
- Finding Him: If he’s not at the ranch, check the Inn at Hernand in the evenings; he’s often at a table to the right of the door. By Chapter 5, players have reported him sitting in the Hernand Town Square near the notice board
- Requirement: Reach 100 Trust with Bremer
- Reward: Unlocks Cows for purchase at Ben’s shop
- Resources: Milk - Short Horn
- Butchered: Large Bone - Short Hair Hide - Tender Meat - Short Horn
4. Sheep: The Search for Wooly

Sheep are unlocked by befriending the child associated with the "Wooly" questline.
- NPC: Willian
- Location: Bloomwood Ranch (see image)
- Finding Him: Willian is a wanderer, often found in the sheep pens or talking to goats. Like Bremer, he may appear in the Hernand Town Square during Chapter 5. It also seems like you need to complete the "Wooly" quest first. This quest is one of the four starter bulletin board quests.
- Requirement: Reach 100 Trust with Willian (use gifts like Coin Purses to speed this up)
- Reward: Unlocks Sheep/Lambs for purchase at Ben’s shop
- Resources: Fleece
- Butchered: Small Bone - Short Hair Hide - Fine Meat - Short Horn - Fleece
5. Goats: The Mountain Pastures

If you’re looking for goats, you’ll need to head southwest to the rocky terrain near Bluemont.
- NPC: Ibano
- Location: Capra Pasture (Directly southwest of Bluemont Manor, see image)
- Requirement: Reach 100 Trust with Ibano
- Reward: Unlocks Goats for purchase at Ben’s shop
- Resources: Milk - Short Horn
- Butchered: Small Bone - Short Hair Hide - Fine Meat - Short Horn
6. Ducks

Tips for Fast Tracking Your Ranch
- The Gift of Gab (and Gold): The fastest way to "Max Trust" is by gifting. Keep hold of any Coin Purses specifically to dump on these NPCs.
- Check the Map Symbols: Look for the Livestock Symbol on your map. While not every NPC at these locations unlocks an animal, the "Ranch Owners" are almost always the key.
- Manual Entry: If you are short on silver, you can technically steal or find dairy cows and bulls in the wild and ride them back. However, ensure they are "Dairy" variants, or the ranch may not register them.
- Chapter 5 Consolidation: If you are struggling to find Willian or Bremer, progress to Chapter 5. Many NPCs congregate in Hernand during this part of the story, making it a "one-stop shop" for maxing out friendships.
