Silver is tight in Crimson Desert, and it stays tight. Gear upgrades, food stocks, camp development, and research investments all pull from the same pot, and the early game in particular does not give you a lot of breathing room. Whether you're just arriving in Hernand or you're pushing into the later regions, this guide covers the best methods to fill your pockets fast.
Crimson Desert Currency Primer
Before we get into it, a quick note on how the currency works. Copper is the small stuff; 100 Copper equals 1 Silver. Silver is what you'll actually be spending on most things. Gold Bars are a special case: they're not directly spendable, but they can be exchanged at any Bank for 500 Silver each. Selling them to a regular merchant nets you only 190 Silver, so always take Gold Bars to a bank. Gold Bars do also have another use, which we will get to later.

Early Game Silver Farming in Hernand: Crime Pays
Looting Lioncrest Manor (Gold Bar)
This is the fastest 500 Silver you will ever make, and you can do it within the first hour of arriving in Hernand. While you might get noticed, it doesn't even matter as you will be able to pay the fine easily with your newly acquired fortune.
Before you attempt any stealing however, you'll need a Mask as you can't interact with 'lootable' items without one. The quickest way to get one early is from Grimrack, the Back Alley Merchant, located southeast of the cathedral near the river. He also sells Keys for 30 Copper, which are useful for unlocking chests inside the manor, and you might as well buy as many as you can.

Once you're masked up:
- Head to Lioncrest Manor in the north of Hernand town
- Look around the Manor for an open window or a window that can be opened (shown in the image above). Enter through here.
- Head downstairs to the fireplace on the ground floor, stand in front of it and "turn off" the fire.
- Put your mask on and interact with the fireplace to steal the hidden Gold Bar. You might need to angle the camera at just the right place to get the "steal" option to work.
- Wait for the "crime" bar to go away and the red area to disappear. Once they do, leave the area.
- Head to the Bank in Hernand and exchange it for 500 Silver. Never sell Gold Bars to anyone else.

Note: In early builds of the game, this was much safer; now a guard patrols the area, making it much easier to get spotted. Doing it at night does make it easier.
What's even better is that the gold bar respawns after 7 in-game days have passed! This alone should be able to fund most of your early game antics.
Rob the Bank in Hernand

While we're in the bank, we might as well rob the place for a few extra coins, right? If you need more Keys, head back to Grimrack, the Back Alley Merchant from earlier.
Once inside the bank, head into the room to the left as you enter the bank. Put your mask on once again and open up all the chests. The room is worth around 50 Silver a pop, and you can also loot the other items in the room for extra Silver and sell them to a local vendor. There is no "stolen" status on items like these, so you can sell them to any vendor.
Do note that every object you steal will reduce your Hernandian Contribution Level by 5 EXP. This isn't a huge deal, but worth remembering if you do this as the very first thing you do in Hernand. Maybe get a few levels with the locals first. Contribution Level is mostly used to purchase items from that region's vendor. If you are in the mid-game, you are likely well past the need for the Hernand Contribution vendor.

Let's Go Gambling
The card games in Crimson Desert are the fastest repeatable way to make Silver in the early game, especially once you know how to tip the odds.
There are two card games available: Duo (the simpler, lower-stakes version in Hernand) and Five-Card (higher stakes, found in northern settlements). For early farming, the Hernand Duo table is your starting point.
There is a 'trick' method but it does involve saving and re-loading so if that's not for you, ignore this one:
- Create a manual save before you sit down at the table.
- Join the game and go all-in; do this on the first draw.
- The AI opponents are fairly reckless, they'll often call your bluff regardless of their own hand.
- If you win, stand up, save again, and repeat.
- If you lose, reload your manual save and try again from scratch.
Best Duo Hands Quick Guide

Hand rankings (best to worst): Pair of 10 → Any Pair → 9 Points → 8 Points → 7 Points and down → Zero/Failure (fold immediately)
Pro Tip: Keep playing at the Hernand Duo table, and you will eventually unlock the Cheat ability. This lets you influence the cards you draw by holding the "hide-hand" command when being dealt, significantly improving your odds of hitting a strong hand. It turns a good farming method into a great one. This does have a detection limit, so use it sparingly.
Looting Bandits and Selling Masks
If you'd rather earn your Silver through combat, bandit farming is a solid passive income stream that runs alongside everything else you're doing naturally.
Pro Tip: Get a pet to help you loot faster.
Look for Blood Bandits on the roads outside Hernand and camps in the surrounding area, who drop Masks and Coin Purses. Coin Purses are simply money to claim from your inventory; Masks sell well at merchants. For a more focused run, the areas around Fort Perwin have dense enemy clusters where you can loot dozens of masks in a single session. It's also worth noting that Coin Purses are amazing for earning Trust with NPCs, such as when you need to get 100 Trust for Farming.
Bounty Boards and Camps
Every major settlement has a Bounty Board near the guard captain. These are good to pick up as a passive source of income, though you will need to take the bandit back to the jailers in the city to earn your reward.
Bandit Camp Clearouts are the best value: faster to complete than escort missions, no fail conditions, and the camps are usually full of chests to loot on top of the bounty reward. A good early example is the Reed Devil's Quarry, which is full of enemies that you can loot.
Mid Game Silver Farming Methods
Once you unlock the Greymane Camp, you can probably start to consider yourself in the mid-game. This can take 10 hours or 30 hours, depending on how you play. Regardless, this section is a good way to start the next jump in your need for cash.
Investing your Gold Bars

Once you've accumulated a few Gold Bars and have 100 Silver spare to open an account, the Bank investment system becomes your best long-term income source.
Open an account at any Bank (the account works across all banks in Pywel) and you will see that there are a number of investment options available:
| Strategy | Risk | Potential Returns |
| Low Risk | Low | 0% to +2% |
| Medium Risk | Moderate | -15% to +20% |
| High Risk | Aggressive | -50% to +55% |
If you want to invest "safely", then just stick it on Medium Risk; Low Risk is far too low to see any sort of return in the long-term. High Risk can deliver great rewards but for your early investments it's likely too risky; if your first investment return is bad, it will be brutal to recover.
If you are really worried about losing your investment then, as this is a single player game, you can 'cheat' by saving just before the investment comes in and then loading if the investment is poor but generally we'd caution against excessive 'save scumming' to avoid ruining your experience.
'Risk-free' Method:
- Put all your Gold Bars onto High Risk.
- Return to the bank when it has 5 minutes left.
- Save the game at this point.
- Wait for the investment to tick over and see if you have a return.
- Assuming it's positive, leave it there and do it again.
- If not, load the save and do it again.
Once you have another 500 Silver in Gold Bars value, you have the option to turn those returns into more Gold Bars and double down on your investment.
Trade Goods and the Wagon System

This is the most involved method on this list, but it's also the one that has the highest ceiling. Once the wagon is running, it generates income without a lot of active effort. We've covered the full setup in our dedicated Trading Guide, but the short version is:
- Unlock the Wagon Workshop at the Greymane Camp (requires Camp Level 2 and completing the Brice quest chain).
- Pick up loose Trade Goods from enemies, camp resources, or Trading Posts.
- Have them packaged by Carl (the Provisions Keeper) at your camp for 100 Copper each.
- Load up the wagon and drive to a Trading Post or Goldleaf Guildhouse to sell in bulk, at significantly higher prices than Black Market vendors offer.
- Always look to sell outside the region you started in.
- On the return trip, buy local goods at the destination post and sell them at a different one to keep the profit loop going.
Pro Tip: Before you leave, use the map to see the specific Trading Posts' "most wanted" goods.
While these are the mid-game money-making tips, they will carry you into the late game as well, as your camp moves with you. We will update this text if we find any specific late-game money-making schemes.
Spending Your Silver in Crimson Desert
While earning Silver is important, knowing what to spend it on is equally important.
- Gear refinement: Even a couple of upgrade levels make a noticeable difference in boss fights, making this an easy choice for spending your hard earned cash.
- Buying Gear: While getting new weapons is fairly easy, armour is rarer. Look at each local town's main Blacksmith vendor, and the Greymane camp one to purchase their best armour set.
- Camp Upgrades: The Greymane Camp improvements open up Comrades, better wagons, and storage expansions that pay for themselves quickly. These are well worth spending on; look to donate a few hundred Silver from time to time to save your Comrades from going on long missions to earn money.
- Expanding your inventory: More carry weight means more loot per run and fewer trips back to sell. Always buy bags from vendors.
- Food Stocks: There are no health potions in Crimson Desert, so food is your only combat healing. Always carry more than you think you need, visit local butchers to get some amazing health food and cook it on the closest fire.
Happy farming!
