Crimson Desert Legendary Horses: How to Find and Tame Royler, Rokade, and Camora

Written by Geekmandem - 9th April 2026

There are three legendary horses for you to find and tame in Crimson Desert. Royler, Rokade, and Camora can be found out in the world, and all can be obtained from the very start of the game, provided you have the Stamina. The game won't push you to find them however and while you can discover them naturally as you play, it's very likely you will simply never see them.

In this guide, we'll go over where they are and the key tips required to tame them, so you don't waste your time.

Before you even consider heading out to look for these horses, you need to ensure you have good stamina. All three of the legendary horses will fight you much harder than a normal horse during the taming process. The goal should be to have at least Level 6 Stamina before you head out. If you need a refresher on the taming minigame itself, check our Horse Taming Guide first.

The Crimson Desert Legendary Horses can be found in the following locations:

Horse Colour Region Best For Difficulty
Royler White Silverwolf Mountains in Pailune Speed and Exploration Hard, requires Ice Resistance
Rokade Black Steel Mountains Grace Estate at the lake Survivability Moderate
Camora Red/Brown Tashkalp in Red River in Demeniss - This area is an "oasis" in the desert Combat Hard, requires fire resistance

Pro Tip: Rokade is the easiest horse to tame but Royler is probably most useful due to speed being the most important stat for a horse.

legendary horses settings

For taming, if you are on PC, use your mouse and keyboard over the controller. The mouse movement allows you to spin the camera faster and track the horse's movement. If you are on console, head into the options shown above and up the "Camera Speed" setting to make moving the camera faster.

Royler: Speed & Exploration

Location: Silverwolf Mountains, Pailune. Find the large "P" in Pailune on your map and look directly below it. Royler roams near a frozen lake by the Snowgrass Hearth campsite. Royler is fully white and usually in a small herd. If Royler is not there, ride 200–300m away or teleport away and come back, and it should cause a respawn.

Why Royler is worth it: Royler has Level 4 base movement speed (the other two are Level 3) and the highest stamina of any horse in the game. Royler can also learn Consecutive Instant Acceleration at Level 5, a skill that lets you chain drift "boosts" together for bursts of speed no other horse can match.

Taming tips: The Silverwolf Mountains apply a frost debuff that drains your health throughout the attempt. Equip cold resistance gear or eat warming food before you start; without it, you can freeze before the meter fills. Keep your camera locked directly behind the horse and hold the stick back rather than trying to match individual directional prompts.

Rokade: Survivability

Location: Steel Mountains, southern Hernand (Grace Estate). Head south towards the Spire of Insight. Rokade wanders near the lake just to the west of it. Rokade is all-black and easy to spot. Clear any nearby enemies before approaching, as the area is busy and interruptions during the tame are frustrating.

Why Rokade is worth it: Rokade has a base health pool of roughly 600 HP, nearly double Royler's, making it the tankiest mount in the game. If you ride into enemy camps and take a lot of hits while mounted, Rokade absorbs punishment where any other horse would go down or throw you off. While the speed is lower than Royler's, this still makes them a great combat pick rather than an exploration one.

Taming tips: The easiest of the three. The Steel Mountains are temperate with no environmental debuffs, so there's no extra pressure beyond the minigame itself. Standard Stamina investment and camera technique apply.

Camora: Mounted Combat

Location: Tashkalp region, far southeast of the map. Head to the Redtree Forest and look for a cavern meadow filled with flowers, east of the Sanctum of Renunciation and west of the Red River. If this area is still fogged on your map, ring the bell in Tommaso to trigger the Toll of Pywel quest and clear it first. Camora is a red and brown horse near the white tree in the flower field.

Pro Tip: Drive Camora into an open clearing before starting the tame. The dense forest will obstruct the camera mid-minigame if you're not careful. This one caught us out more than once.

Why Camora is worth it: Camora has the highest Attack of any horse in the game. His Back Kick hits harder than any other mount's, making him the pick if you actively use your horse in combat. Health and stamina are solid too; this makes Camora a genuine all-rounder for the late game.

Taming tips: Tashkalp is hot, applying a heat debuff that drains stamina in the same way Royler's frost does. Equip fire resistance gear or use cooling food before you attempt it. Get into open ground first, then use the same hold-back camera technique as the other two.

Tips That Apply to All Three Legendary Horses

  • No quests or unlocks required: All three can be tamed the moment you find them.
  • Respawning: If a horse isn't present, ride away and come back.
  • Gliding approach: If you have high ground nearby with a fast travel point, boost into the air and glide down onto the horse to skip the ground approach entirely.
  • Once you have them: See our Horse Healing Guide to keep them fighting fit.

Happy Legendary Horse Taming!
