How to Get the Golden Knotted Ancestral Bow in Crimson Desert

Written by Geekmandem - 10th April 2026

The Golden Knotted Ancestral Bow is one of the best hidden weapons in Crimson Desert, a strong ranged option tucked inside a trap-filled underground ruin in the Pailune region. The location is well hidden; despite this being a fairly high-traffic area in the mid-game, so many players likely never notice it.

The Golden Knotted Ancestral Bow starts at Refinement Level 3 with a base 19 Attack, comes with five Abyss Gear slots (three already filled on pickup) and has a built-in Health Siphon passive that returns health on every hit. If you're building around ranged combat, this is well worth the detour.

Where to Find the Golden Knotted Ancestral Bow

The bow is found inside the Pailune Ancestors' Ruins, north of the Silver Wolf Mountains in Pailune. Look for the Silver Wolf Mountain fast travel point near the summit, and from there, head east until you are parallel with the first "I" in Silver Wolf Mountain on the map.

The entrance is a small hole surrounded by tufts of grass, as shown above. Drop down into it to enter the ruins below. The opening blends into the environment easily, so scan the ground carefully rather than looking at the trees around you.

Pro Tip: If the area is still fogged on your map, head just above the "I" in "Silver Wolf Mountain"; the entrance sits roughly below that point.

The Pailune Ancestors' Ruins

The Pailune Ancestors' Ruins is a short dungeon, but it has a few traps that will catch you off guard if you rush. Take it slow, and you'll get through cleanly.

First Trap

Immediately after dropping in, you will be presented with a room with three possible directions. We need to head down the stairs to progress. Hug the right side of the room and go down the stairs to avoid the floor trap triggering. You will have plenty of time, even if you do trigger the floor break.

Buzzsaw Corridor

Once you get past the door, you'll hit a corridor with saws and spike traps. The key here is patience over speed; these traps have a very simple pattern. They move to the opposite side they started, then they return to the starting location. Once they have come back the second time, you can just run to the end. Be careful of the last saw as it's very close to the edge of the platform and can easily knock you into the Spike Traps.

The Four Pillars

This is the hardest part of the dungeon; you need to jump across four pillars above a spike pit.

  • Don't jump immediately - a large brazier drops from the ceiling and starts swinging in front of the first pillar after a few seconds.
  • The Brazier only swings after the initial drop, so you can wait for it to become nearly motionless before moving.
  • Aim for the near edge of each pillar, not the far side. Carrying too much momentum forward sends you into the spikes below. You can also use the "Precise Jump" skill if you want to make it easier.
  • There only appear to be two braziers, making the first two jumps the hardest.

Note: We found the final pillars section easier the first time we did this puzzle, with the two braziers that drop down seemingly not moving correctly. Upon a reload, they were much harder.

The Climb

Once you make it past the final pillar and are standing in front of the iron gate, you need to climb up. Use the Force Jump here, as climbing is a little awkward, requiring you to go to the sides of the wall rather than jumping up directly.

Once you reach the top, the doors will open, and the Golden Knotted Ancestral Bow will be lying on the floor in the final room.

Pro Tip: Once you have the bow, use a fast travel point to leave rather than backtracking through all the traps again.

Critical Rate 1

The Health Siphon passive is what makes this bow stand out from standard early-game options. Every hit returns a portion of health, which lets you stay in longer fights without burning through food. The two remaining open Abyss Gear slots give you room to customise it further as you progress. For more on the Abyss Gear system, see our Abyss Artifacts Guide.
