Crimson Desert is a large game, and you'll need your mounts for the long trip. However, you might have noticed your Horse slowing down suddenly a few hours into the game, or just looking a little worse for wear. Read on to work out what's going on with your mount, and how you can fix it.
As you travel the world of Pywel, your faithful steed, just like you, can accrue a few bruises along the way. Either via combat or because you decided to jump off a cliff. If that happens, your horse will need some tender loving care, and in Crimson Desert, there's a few ways you can do that.

Why Is My Horse Not Sprinting in Crimson Desert?
Assuming you are indeed galloping correctly, then it will be one of two reasons:
- Physical Trauma: Look for visible bloodstains or scratches on the horse’s coat. Note: This is much harder to spot if you have heavy horse armour equipped
- The Sprint Test: If your horse refuses to gallop and forces a walking pace, it has sustained enough damage to require healing
Healing Your Horse in Crimson Desert
There are three main ways you can heal your horse in Crimson Desert and we'll break each of them down below.
Healing Your Horse in Crimson Desert: The Stablemaster

In the early game, the best way to heal your horse is going to be at the Stablemaster.
- Location: Near most major hub cities, you will find a Stablemaster. For Hernand, you will find them north of the main city at the location shown above.
- The Fix: Speak to the Stablemaster and ask them to heal your horse. Early in the game, this service is free, and the best way to keep your horse back in tip-top shape.
Healing Your Horse: Healing Force Palm

This is the strategy you can employ if you have some Sealed Abyss Artifacts spare. Head to the skills menu and go to the Force Palm skill. This is where you will find the healing spell "Healing Force Palm." We actually also recommended getting it in our Beginner Skill Guide.
This is a great skill, and not just something you can use on allies and NPCs; it also works on your mounts. You just need to stand near the horse, charge the Force Palm (R3/middle mouse), then use L3 (Tab) to change it to the Healing Force Palm. We had to use it twice to fully heal our horse, but once we did, the marks disappeared, and the horse was back to sprinting again.
Healing Your Horse: Consumables and Tonics
The last method is to use a Horse Tonic, which you can stock up on at the Stablemaster. So, this is more of a long-term thinking strategy for when you visit the Stablemaster for the first time. You can also use hay, which you can find in the world, to heal your horse in a pinch. As your horse slowly takes damage on your journey, this is a good method to keep in mind.
You can tell what food you can use as it will appear in the drop-down menu while mounted on your horse. Simply select, for example, an apple, click the item and then select "feed to horse." This will also heal the mount.
Quick Tip: Keeping a stack of Horse Tonics in your quick-access slots can save you from a long, slow walk back to civilisation after a combat encounter goes south.
