The Rapier of a Thousand Cuts is one of the strongest weapons you can get your hands on in Windrose in the early-mid game (if you are lucky). The Rapier has a powerful Bleed DoT effect that can tear through enemies and allows for a relatively safe playstyle.

Where To Find Rapier Of A Thousand Cuts In Windrose
Now the bad news, the Rapier is a random drop from one of around ~15 chests/skeletons/bodies throughout various POIs in the Coastal Jungle and Foothills region.
Our only advice really is to clear out all of the POIs as you go from zone to zone to ensure you are maximising your chances of obtaining it as early as possible. Drop locations include:
- Blackbeard Pirate Camps
- Pirate Remains
- Shipwrecks
- Ancient Fire Sanctuary
- Ancient Farms
Note: The way that the loot system works in Windrose is that you are guaranteed every item by the time you have completed the game. Once an item has been looted, it is removed from the loot pool, so in theory after every 'miss' your chance of looting it from the next chest is higher.
Upgrading & Ascending Rapier Of A Thousand Cuts
Once you obtain the Rapier, we would certainly recommend upgrading and ascending it as soon as possible. In order to Ascend it to epic, you will need 7 Tumbaga Ingots. These are extremely sparse in the Coastal Jungle but become more abundant in the Foothills.
Once ascended to Epic, the Bleed damage from Rapier Of A Thousand Cuts will refill your 'temporal health' bar. This is the chunk of health that you can 'reclaim' after you take damage by dealing damage again within a short space of time.
The Epic ability might not sound like much but it's actually pretty powerful when it comes to survivability, especially when paired with Talents like You Will Answer For This (+25/50/75% Temporal Health gain when taking damage).

- Sturdy Rapier: Although not as powerful, this Rapier increases your Perfect Block opportunity window, making it easier to counter enemy attacks.
- Cutlass: When paired with a powerful pistol like Drakes Double-Barrelled Pistol, this combo can deal huge damage.
- Razor: You can run an early Crit build with Razor and the Privateer Set giving an immediate 20% Crit chance - it's not optimal but it's pretty decent.
