Windrose layers its character power across gear, weapons, stats, and talent trees, but knowing where to put your points early on can make levelling up feel significantly smoother. The good news: you can freely reset both your stats and talents at any time with no cost, so experimenting is always an option. That said, here is a solid foundation to build from.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the key stats, discuss how to best split your points in the early game, the best talent tree to prioritise first, and why set bonuses on armour are worth keeping an eye on from the start.
Understanding the Six Stats

There are six stats to allocate as you level up. Three of them directly scale your weapon damage, while the other three are supportive. Only invest in the combat stat that matches your chosen weapons; spreading across all three damage stats is wasted points.
- Strength: scales damage for heavy melee weapons only. No ranged option, purely melee-focused. Weapons: Club and Halberd.
- Agility: scales damage for fast and sweeping weapons. Best for combos and AoE clearing. Weapons: Saber, Greatsword, Blunderbuss.
- Precision: scales damage for ranged and technical weapons. Best for single-target damage and ranged play. Weapons: Rapier, Pistol, Musket.
- Mastery: increases critical hit chance across all weapon types. No weapon scales off Mastery directly, but it benefits every build. (0.5% Critical Hit Chance per point)
- Vitality: increases maximum health. Common food buffs cover this, so it can be supplemented without heavy point investment early on. (gain 13 Health per point)
- Endurance: increases Stamina. A solid secondary allocation for any build, especially useful during farming sessions. Note: Bonebreaker, a 2H Club, does bonus damage based on your stamina. (5 stamina per point)
Pro Tip: Rapiers, unlike most other 1H weapons, scale with Precision, which means you can run a Rapier + Pistol build that scales entirely on Precision for maximum value.
How to Allocate Your Stat Points

The bulk of your power in Windrose comes from your weapons and gear; stats are a meaningful multiplier, but not the whole story. With that in mind, a simple split works well for most of the game:
- Focus on Endurance First: Endurance means more Stamina, and you will quickly realise how valuable Stamina is for every aspect of this game.
- Vitality: Clearly, you also need some health, so put an equal number of points into Vitality (as Endurance).
- Weapon Mastery: Focus on the stat which scales with your weapon choices.
- Mastery: Crit is useful but there are other great ways to increase your crit chance (Privateer's set, Razor weapon) so this is probably least impactful early game.
Pro Tip: You can reset both Talents and Attributes freely, so don't stress too much about doing things wrong. Just remember to move weapon stats around as you pick up new primary weapons.
Best Early Game Talents in Windrose

As mentioned above, Stamina is a big early-game block, with early boss fights requiring good management of Stamina and health to win. For this reason we recommend focusing on the left talent tree first and specifically, the following talents:
- Marathon Runner: +20/35/50 Stamina - useful for pretty much everything in this game
- Just a Flesh Wound: 6%/9%/12% Melee Damage Resistance - almost all damage in the early game is melee as ranged is easily avoidable
- Too Angry to Die: Revive at 30% health after killing blow - a second-life on a 16-minute cooldown, absolute no-brainer
- Stout Frame: +120/180/240 Health - insanely strong early game - equivalent of almost 20 points in Vitality
Once you max out those Talents, it really becomes much more optional depending on your weapon choice.
