Both Ancient Fire Sanctuary Puzzle Solutions in Windrose (All Firebowl Locations)

There are two Ancient Fire Sanctuaries in Windrose and they are definitely more challenging points of interest. They both contain four Firebowl Braziers that need to be found and repaired. Lighting all four rewards you with access to a hidden chest and some great rewards.

This guide shows you how you can find all of the Firebowls at both of the POIs to get the great rewards at the end.

Ancient Fire Sanctuary (8-Chest POI) Firebowl Locations

Pro Tip: If you make a mistake or lock the puzzle, you can ALT + F4 to reset the area.

General Tips

1. Light everything up using Standing Torches. They can be built anywhere for two wood, and you'll get plenty of wood for cutting down the Thorns around the Ruins.
2. Be careful not to fall through the 'loose' stones on the top and middle floors.
3. Look for 'ladders' built into the wall if you need to get yourself out of the bottom floor. You can also knock down a pillar with a Pickaxe to create a ramp.

The left image shows why you need fire to see, the upper level is almost totally pitch black. The right image shows what the "dirt" looks like, which will fall if you stand on it.

Firebowl 1: Top Floor (Outside) Behind Thorns In Small Room

The first Firebowl can be found at the top of the temple, in a room on the right hand side (if you have come down the stairs and are facing the locked door). Just hack away the Thorns to reveal the Firebowl in a small room as shown below.

Firebowl 2: Top Floor (Outside) Pressure Plate Puzzle

Place the vases on the plates: The base is close to the pressure plate. Just place it on top to activate the switch.

This is our puzzle within a puzzle. We need to place two vases on top of the pressure plates on either side of the locked door on the top floor. This is pretty easy as one is already activated and the other is located right next to the pressure plate. Pick them up with "E" and place them with "E". The two pressure plates required for the door are in the main room with the door (you can see the left one in the above image)

Note: There is a 3rd vase on the top floor that you can place on another pressure plate to unlock another door, revealing an Ancient Chest. This is on the 'right side' if you have just come down the big stairs and are facing the temple, at the back.

Firebowl 3: Top Floor (Outside) Go Left After Pressure Plate Puzzle

Firebowl 3: Found on the second floor once you drop down, as shown in the second image above.

The third Firebowl is also behind the door from Firebowl 2, which we opened with the pressure plates; this time, you need to swing left through the doorway with the vines dropping down. Head past the 'Old Skeleton and drop down the hole. The Firebowl will be directly in front of you.

Firebowl 4: Bowl Already At The Brazier

This one is nice and easy. The Firebowl is already at the Brazier so you just need to interact with it (E) to light it.

Ancient Fire Sanctuary (8-Chest POI) Reward

Once all four Firebowl Braziers have been repaired and lit, a hidden chest will become accessible beside the four Braziers at the bottom of the temple. The chest contains 5 Tumbaga Ingots.

Ancient Fire Sanctuary (4-Chest POI) Firebowl Locations

This Ancient Fire Sanctuary is a little less confusing of the two puzzles. Once again you'll need to locate the Firebowls and return them to braziers, then light them. Here's how to find then all.

How to Orient Yourself

All directions below are assuming you are standing in the centre of the four braziers. Get your bearings before heading out; it'll save a lot of backtracking.

Firebowl Locations

Firebowl 1: Down a hole to the Southeast

Facing southeast from the centre, drop down the hole. Once below, follow the tunnel and climb the stone wall and then grab the Firebowl. You'll need to knock down the wall to get out. You can place the bowl on the edge of the wall and then jump up.

Firebowl 2: Behind Debris Down A Hole To The West

Facing directly west from the centre, drop down the hole. At the bottom, destroy the debris blocking the way to reveal the Firebowl hidden behind it. Take the bowl back to the braziers.

Firebowl 3: On The Roof, Destroy The Column To The Northeast

This one took us a little longer to find. Facing directly northeast from the centre, look for the damaged column (not the tree in the left image, just to the right of that). Take out a pickaxe and destroy it; this opens up a ramp. Run up the ramp, and you'll find the bowl waiting on the roof.

Firebowl 4: Already Placed

Firebowl 4 is already sitting on its brazier; it just needs to be lit.

Ancient Fire Sanctuary (4-Chest POI) Chest Locations

Here's where to find all of the chests to 'complete' the POI

Chest 1: Top Of The Ruins

One chest is located on top of the Ruins and requires a bit of platforming to reach. Head north, and towards where we found the third Firebowl. Go up the ramp and then jump over to the chest.

Chest 2: Beside Firebowl 2 (Under Debris)

Once you clear away the Debris down by where you entered the cave for Firebowl 2, you'll see there's an Old Skeleton you can loot.

Chest 3: Southwest, Outside

This chest is Southwest of the brazier behind the mostly destroyed part of the ruins, as shown in the image above.

Chest 4: Inside the Locked Door, Firebowl Puzzle Reward

The final chest is of course the chest you looted when you completed the Firebowl puzzle.
