Staying Alive In Windrose: How To Heal (More Ways Than You Think!)

Written by The Old One - 17th April 2026

Combat in Windrose is pretty tough, even on Standard difficulty. As a result, you'll find yourself looking for healing... a lot. This guide will break down all the ways you can heal yourself in Windrose and stay in the fight.

Healing In Windrose: Consumables

There are two main consumables that you can use to stay topped up in Windrose.

Bandages

Bandages restore 900 health over 30 seconds. That's a lot - by the mid-game you will have around 1,000 health or so with food buffs and talents so it's basically a full heal over 30 seconds. The catch is that any damage will interrupt this effect.

This means that you can either use bandages to heal when out of combat (recommended) or you can use them in combat in a pinch but you'll have to avoid attacks for a bit and beware that the bandage application animation is quite long, so you're vulnerable throughout.

Healing Potions

The trusty healing potion will be a close friend throughout your entire time in Windrose, serving as the main means of keeping you alive in combat.

The following table will go over each tier of the potion and how to craft them. You can also loot them from various sources, but not reliably.

Potion Type HP Restored Alchemy Table Level Crafting Requirements
Minor Healing Potion 35% HP Level 1 Alchemical Base
Healing Potion (Regular) 55% HP Level 2 Alchemical Base + Healing Herb or Undead Essence
Great Healing Potion 80% HP Level 4 Healing Potion + Tear of Sorrow

The Rally System (Temporal Health)

The 'Rally' system in Windroseallows you to recover a portion of your health immediately after getting hit by an enemy. This is done by striking back within a 5-second window after taking damage.

The recoverable portion of your health is indicated on your health bar. Instead of being fully depleted, it appears as a lighter shade of red, showing that those health points can be regained if you attack quickly enough.

Weapons With a Healing Effect (Lifesteal etc)

Finally, one of the best ways to heal yourself in the game is to get yourself a weapon that heals you. These are some of the rarest weapons in the game and can only be acquired through crafting. The following table shows you exactly how much health they can restore and how to craft them.

Weapon Health Restore Effect
Arboris Saber (Epic) Does not heal directly; converts temporal health into real health more efficiently (synergizes with Rally System)
Dueling Greatsword (Epic) Perfect Blocks restore 10% health
Plague Halberd (Epic) Special attack restores 35% of maximum health
Plague Pistol (Epic) Restores 40% of damage dealt as health
Rapier of Devastation (Epic) Heavy attacks consuming more than 5 marks restore 40% of maximum health

Healing at a Bonfire

For completeness, you will also heal when you are near a bonfire, after a period of not taking damage (it's around 30 seconds). This means that if you are caught in a pinch out on an adventure and you are low after a fight and have no bandages, you can chop down a tree and construct a quick bonfire.

Now you know how to stay alive, start thinking about your next ship upgrade!
