If you’ve been trudging around Hernand at Shakatu’s beck and call, you're probably ready to find out who the mystery trader is. Then the reality hits, and it turns out you needed to actually pay attention to all those clues along the way!

Solving the "Close Threat" Investigation in Crimson Desert
Once you’ve visited every suspect and snagged the items the quest marker pointed you toward, head back to Shakatu, the new Goldleaf branch leader.
He’ll put you on the spot, asking you to match specific items to each suspect's testimony to see whose story holds water.
Note: There is a bit/quirk of this quest where, after you select some evidence, the screen will hang with you looking at Shakatu. Just press the "use" key/button for the testimony, and the options will appear again.
Here are the answers in the order they will appear:
- Blique's Testimony: Select the Horse Hire Ledger
- Skrav's Testimony: Select the Trade Schedule Log
- Nogle's Testimony: Select the Tavern Ledger
- Grimzle's Testimony: Select the Proof of Stay
- Kathan's Testimony: Select the Guard's Report
Grimzle is the rat, and we catch him in the act.
Catching the Culprit
With the evidence stacked against him, Shakatu will officially name Grimzle as the rat.
You’ll find the traitor at a ranch just east of the Goldleaf Guildhouse, caught red-handed chatting with his partner in crime. After the cutscene, it’s time for a bit of rough justice. You need to tie him up as you do with Bounty quests. You won't need to hit him to end the quest, but you can if you want to.
You don't need to hit Grimzle, but he did make you do a lot of travelling.
Chuck Grimzle onto the back of your horse and make the trek back up the road to Unicorn Cliff. Ride into the Guildhouse courtyard to meet Shakatu for the final cinematic.
Your Rewards: For your detective work, you’ll receive:
- Hernandian Banquet Cloak
- Kinetic Counterweight (you can get a different high-value item)
- Contribution points
