Windrose Quest: Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest (Where To Find The Buried Treasure)

Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest is one of the earliest side quests that you pick up in Windrose and it comes with a helpful map marker, but you might still be wondering what to do when you get there, or if you have worked it out, perhaps you are struggling with the army of the dead! Either way, read on and hopefully we'll be able to help.

Important Note: You'll need a Shovel for this quest.

Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest: Where To Find The Buried Treasure

If you have searched for this article then we assume you have already looted the 'Blurry Sketch Of The Island' Curio from the shipwreck on the eastern coast of the island. If not, then that's where you'll find the item that starts this side quest, as shown in the image below.

After looting the reading the Curio in your Journal (hotkey J), you'll find a blue map marker appears on your map. Head there to find four skeletons arranged in a square shape. In order to access the Buried Treasure, you need to dig in the centre of the square, the mid-point between the four skeletons.

Once you do this, you'll find a chest appears. Interact with it to start a pretty challenging encounter!

Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest: Dealing With The Drowned

The four skeletons will come to life as 'Drowned' enemies, which are four level 2 melee mobs (though they do also have a Throw Rock attack). Although individually these enemies are weak/easy to deal with, when you have to fight four at once it's actually pretty tough if you don't have any decent gear yet.

Here's some combat tips that we found helped:

• Come with double-stacked food buffs to increase your maximum HP.
• Bring Healing Potions if you can, you get 10x for completing another early quest, Twist of Fancy
• Keep moving in a circle around the Drowned to avoid the rocks they throw at you.
• When they Drowned charge at you (they move faster and flail their arms), you can attack them when they get close to stagger them and break them out of the charge.
• Hit them once or twice and then move away quickly, there's too many to block effectively.

If you die, all of the Drowned will despawn and you'll need to start from scratch.

After you kill them, loot the chest again to receive your rewards:

• - 50 XP
• - 4x Silver Ingots
• - 5x Guineas
