If you've just completed the Coastal Jungle zone and you're ready to tackle the Foothills, you're going to want to upgrade your ship and gear pretty quickly as the enemies here are a big step up again. In order to do this you are going to need a lot of different resources from this new zone, all of which we list out below.
Where To Find All Foothills Resources In Windrose

Where To Find Divi-Divi Trees (Foothills Hardwood, Tree Bark) in Windrose
Along with Foothill Iron Ore, Hardwood is probably the most important crafting material at this tier, and you are going to need a lot of it.
When you first arrive at the Foothills you are probably wondering where these trees are, but wander around for enough and you'll see little copses of these twisting trees called Divi-Divi trees, as shown in the image below. Chop these down to obtain Hardwood and Tree Bark.
Beware, these Divi-Divi locations usually contain wolves or other aggressive animals.
Where To Find Flax Fibers in Windrose
Flax Fibers are required to create Linen Fabric at the Spinning Wheel. Linen Fabric is required for so many things at this tier including gear, decorations and perhaps most importantly, your next ship upgrade, the Brigantine ship.
Finding these little flowers can be quite a nuisance. They are found in batches of 3-4 within the grassy mainland of any Foothills island and they can be spotted by their distinctive purple flowers. See the image below.
Pro Tip: We recommend planting Flax Saplings (requiring Flax Seeds) within the Fertile Soil in your base. These are one of the more annoying resources to farm so it helps to have a constant supply waiting for you.
Where to Find Fertile Soil in Windrose
Fertile Soil allows you to begin farming back at your base, which is an invaluable addition for making certain materials (like Flax Fibers) much easier to farm. You can find Fertile Soil alongside various Ruins throughout the Foothills.
Where to Find Sulfur in Windrose
Sulphur is used to craft an extremely valuable component for combat: Gunpowder. You'll always want to have a decent stock of Gunpowder on hard which means you'll need plenty of Sulfur too.
As shown in the image above, you'll find Sulfur attached to various rocky outcroppings throughout the Foothills. There's usually 2-3 clumps of Sulfur attached to various parts of the rock.
Where to Find Aloe Leaf in Windrose
Aloe Leaf is a less essential material that is used for crafting cooking recipes (Sunmilk Tonic) and Potions (Elixir of Concentration) but still useful so worth grabbing when you see it. It also has a distinctive appearance with large fronds that will be hard to miss.
Where to Find Corn in Windrose
Corn is one of the more challenging resources to find but it is a critical resource as it is required for the Discovery of the Millstones building, where you can craft Gunpowder for the first time. What you are looking for is an Ancient Village on the Foothills islands (left image below). Around the Ancient Village there will be fields of corn, some of which will be lootable.
Where to Find Foothills Iron Ore in Windrose
I'm not going to insult your intelligence here, but we've just included this for completeness. Foothills Iron Ore can of course be found in any 'Iron Ore Mine' within the Foothills that is denoted by a pickaxe on your map, just like all of the Copper Mines in the Coastal Jungle.
