All Workers In Windrose: Where To Find Them & What They Do

So you've built your wonderful little freebooter paradise but... it feels lonely. You tire of the same conversations with Galen and want for more. Well worry not, for in Windrose you have the ability to populate your base with Workers, NPCs for hire that also grant powerful buffs to your crafting buildings when assigned.

All Workers In Windrose, What They Do & Where To Find Them

There are currently four Workers for hire in Windrose's early access state, but we are likely to see more in the future, which we'll add to this guide. A quick summary:

Each worker, including their full benefits, are broken down below.

1. Rosalinda Mercer

Rosalinda Mercer can be found in Tortuga, at one of the corners of the main square. As with all Workers (currently) she costs 500 Piastre to hire and is an Alchemist. She provides the following perks, when assigned to the Alchemy Table:

• Master Bottle Maker: Doubles Clay Bottle production
• Talented Alchemist: 30% chance to craft an extra elixir

The Master Bottle Maker perk is a nice little convenience perk but the Talented Alchemist Perk is great, especially when you start crafting Great Healing Potions and Infused (Epic) Elixirs which are expensive.

2. Jasper Crowe

Jasper Crowe is also found at Tortuga, near the Rogue Buccaneers Provisioner. Jasper costs 500 Piastre to hire and is perhaps the most powerful Worker, especially if you can get him early enough. When assigned to the Armor & Clothing Workshop, he provides the following perk:

Thrifty Tailor: 30% chance to recover resources spent on upgrading an item

Jasper is a really great pickup and will allow you to progress through the game faster thanks to being able to speed up your upgrades on your armour. Each 'tier' requires 25 upgrades (level 1>5, 5>10 and 10>15 for 5x armour pieces) so if you get him reasonably early you can get a refund on 20+ upgrades!

3. Black Axel

Black Axel is not found in Tortuga, he's found at the People of Tortuga main base, before you pass through ther walls. He cost 500 Piastre to hire and is a Cook. When he is assigned to the Cooking Fire, he provides the following perks:

• A Talented Chef: 30% Chance to craft an extra portion of food

Like Rosalinda, you'll really start to feel the power of Jasper's perk when it comes to crafting Epic food that uses a tonne of resources and only lasts for 30 minutes, so he is definitely worth picking up. Despite that, he is probably the least useful of the three given the economic benefits of Jasper and the number of additional healing pots you will proc with Rosalinda.

4. Mortar Joe

Mortar Joe is found in the Brethren of the Coast main base. It might be different for you but this was the last base we discovered, once we were well into the Foothills zone. He also costs 500 Piastre to hire and is a Powderman. When assigned to the Millstones he provides the following perks:

• Talented Powderman: Increases Gunpowder production by 50%
• Personal Quest: Unknown, coming in a future update

While we don't know what perk we will receive as a result of Mortar Joe's Personal Quest which is not yet available, the 50% increase to Gunpowder production is nonetheless welcome, especially if you are running a build that guzzles through ammo. We don't suggest hiring Mortar Joe before you've unlocked the Frigate as the Piastre is better spent there.

How To Assign Workers In Windrose

Assigning Workers in Windrose is very simple. Once you have hired the Worker, simply go to the crafting menu of the building you want to assign a worker to and you will see a 'Worker' tab in the top left (see image below). Click on the tab and assign the worker.

Currently the only buildings that have assignable workers are:

• Armor & Clothing Workshop (Jasper Crowe)
• Alchemy Table (Rosalinda Mercer)
• Cooking Fire (Black Axel)
• Millstones (Mortar Joe)
