Prey in WoW Midnight Season 2

Written by Roguery - 9th August 2026

The Prey content system and The Prey Seekers Journey are receiving a few updates in WoW Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1), including new affixes, bosses and rewards for you to work towards.

This guide covers all of the changes to Prey in Midnight Season 2 and all of the new rewards you can unlock by progressing through the new content.

New Prey Hunts in WoW Midnight Season 2

The new Zone released with WoW Midnight Patch 12.1 is called The Coiled Isle, this new Zone will be home to a lot of new content, including four new snake themed hunts.

WoW Midnight Season 2 Prey Bosses:

  • Janoa the Fang
  • Batani the Scaled
  • Kursak the Coiled
  • Kadani the Claw

If you manage to defeat all four of the Season 2 Prey Bosses, you will get the Prey: Coiled Nightmares Achievement.

New Prey Affixes in WoW Midnight Season 2

In addition to the new hunts, there is also a shake up in the affix system. Gone are the original affixes, and we have a brand new set. In Normal difficulty you will have Ambush only. This causes your active prey to occasionally appear and attack you while you are in combat.

For Hard Prey and Nightmare Prey you now have 3 new affixes. These affixes only appear when you are in combat.

WoW Midnight Season 2 Prey Affixes:

  • Pack Ambush - Thai causes a pack of serpentine enemies to attack you.
  • Exploding Corpse Snakes - When an enemy is defeated, Snakes appear and poison you.
  • Toxic Snare - Spawns Circles under your character that deal heavy damage and slows the players for several seconds.

Ral’kala and Curse of the Isle in WoW Midnight Season 2

In addition to getting new Prey Hunts on the Coiled Isle, Prey also has a new boss, called Ral’kala. To summon this boss you have to be in the middle of doing a Nightmare Prey Hunt on The Coiled Isle, or you can be on a special mode called "Curse of the Isle".

Defeating Ral’kala has a chance to drop the Hexflame Reaver Mount, Pale Hexcaler Companion Pet and Prehunter’s Masquerade toy.

Unlocking Curse of the Isle Phase on The Coiled Isle

You need to do a questline, called Prey: A Slithering Threat, to unlock the Curse of the Isle phase. This questline starts at Astalor in Silvermoon, the main Prey Hub in Midnight, and requires you to complete one of the 4 new snake themed Prey Hunts on the Coiled Isle, specifically on Nightmare difficulty.

You will also need to have completed the Curse of Ula’tek Quest Campaign up to Chapter 2 to be able to see the NPCs required for the quest. If you are looking for more information for how to progress the campaign and unlock the Coiled Isle, check out our How to Unlock the Coiled Isle Guide.

Enabling Curse of the Isle Phase on The Coiled Isle

To activate the Curse of the Isle Phase for the Coiled Isle, you need to speak to The Image of Astalor Bloodsworn, an NPC found in Tokka’s Landing on The Coiled Isle.

Once you have unlocked the Curse of the Isle, you can talk to The Image of Astalor Bloodsworn and select a dialogue option that will put you into the Curse of the Isle Phase; allowing you to interact with and collect the required Ossified Relics needed to summon Ral’kala.

How to Summon Ral’kala - Prey Boss in WoW Midnight Season 2

To summon Ral’kala you must first collect some Ossified Relics and take them to a Brazier, which can be found on the Island while on a Nightmare Prey Hunt or in the Curse of the Isle phase.

It takes 100 Ossified Relics to summon Ral’kala at the brazier, but this is shared between players.

Note: You have a much greater chance at receiving loot if you contribute your own Ossified Relics.

The boss is fairly simple to kill, with straight forward abilities such as chain lightning. A lot of the time there will also be other people around who will help you kill him.

How to Farm Ossified Relics

Farming Ossified Relics is fairly easy.

Whilst in the Curse of the Isle Phase, you can either collect them from skulls found around The Coiled Isle, or from enemies on The Coiled Isle once you have progressed through the Preyhunter’s Journey to Tier 3.

In addition there is a daily quest from Sanctum Attendant Ethrandil, Prey: Anguish From Beyond, which rewards 100 Ossified Relics.

Ral'kala Drops and Rewards

Ral'kala has 4 unique rewards that can drop: The Hooked Net Trap decor, the Pale Hexscale pet, the Hexflame Reaver Mount and Preyhunter's Masquerade toy. However, these do seem to be very rare drops.

Beyond the unique items, Ral'kala will always drop a small amount of Voidlight Marl, a few Hero and Champion Mistcrest, along with some Corrosive Coin, Coffer Key Shards and Remnants of Anguish.

The first time you defeat the boss you get the “One Two Ral’kala is coming for You” Achievement. If you manage to defeat him 50 times, you get the “Nine, Ten, Never Sleep Again” Achievement, which rewards Preyhunter's Terror Bust and Preyhunter's Terror Effigy respectively.
