Coming alongside the Nebulous Voidcores are Ascendant Voidcores. While not much is known about the Ascendant Voidcores we know that this is a new item that can be used to increase the item level of fully upgraded Hero or Myth track weapons and trinkets, as well as max rank crafted weapons and trinkets. Fully upgraded Myth gear will be increased to item level 298.
Unlocking The Voidforge
The first step to gaining the new Ascendant and Nebulous Voidcores is to unlock the Voidforge. This comes in the form of a repeatable weekly quest that can be picked up from Decimus who can be found in the Voidstorm.

Unlocking Ascendant Voidcores
Once you have unlocked the Voidforge you will gain a new quest from Decimus to assist him in crafting the Ascendant Nilhammer. It is unknown if this is a single quest or a questline that will span across multiple weeks but it is warband-wide meaning any progress you make on a single character will count towards all of your alts as well.
As there is little information about the Ascendant Voidcores we can only speculate about how you will unlock them. Currently there is another item called Ascendant Voidshard, combining 5 of these will grant you 1 Ascendant Voidcore. It is unknown if this item will drop from endgame content or if this will be a quest reward from Decimus.
After helping Decimus craft the Ascendant Nilhammer players and their warbands will be able to start collecting Ascendant Voidcores from endgame content such as; raids, Mythic+ dungeons, Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare difficulty Prey Hunts.
Using Ascendant Voidcores
It is recommended that you use your first Ascendant Voidcore on your weapons, as this will very likely give you the largest power increase that you could gain.
Note: Ascendant Voidcores can only be used on fully upgraded weapons and trinkets. This means you will need to have your intended item that you want to upgrade at the 6/6 Myth or Hero track.
As it is unknown if there is any cap to the amount of Ascendant Voidcores you can gain it is also recommended that you use your Ascendant Voidcores on Myth gear first. Once you have upgraded all of your Myth weapons and trinkets you should freely be able to use any other extra Ascendant Voidcares you gain on Hero trinkets.
Once you have used an Ascendant Voidcore on an item that item will become Ascendant Voidforged preventing it from any further upgrades.
