How to Upgrade Gear in Patch 11.1.5

Written by Roguery - 13th May 2025

On May 13th/14th Blizzard are kicking the gearing process into high gear with the Turbo Boost event, which includes improvements to Valorstone and Crest acquisition in the majority of content, along with the introduction of Puzzling Cartel Chips allowing you to purchase Liberation of Undermine raid gear and Season 2 Mythic+ trinkets, which we have covered in more detail in our Puzzling Cartel Chips guide.

Once the 13th/14th hits, you will notice that Valorstones are now warbound, meaning you can send the excess Valorstones to your alts to get them started on their gearing journey. Also, the weekly cap on crests being removed means that you can farm as many as you want without being restricted and needing to wait for the weekly reset to continue earning them.

Additionally, Blizzard are also extending the hero and myth track upgrade paths as well as increasing the maximum Item level on crafted gear.

How to Upgrade Profession Gear

During the Turbo Boost Event starting on the 13th/14th of May, all of your profession gear can now be upgraded an additional time to gain upto an extra 6 item levels; meaning the maximum item level for crafted gear in Patch 11.1.5 will be 681.

In order to upgrade your crafted gear, you will need to purchase an Augmentation Matrix from either Llande or Syenite, both of which are located in Dornogal. Read our Augmentation Matrix Vendor Guide for more information on where to purchase either the Runed or Gilded Augementation Matrix and how many crests they cost.

You will then need to order a recraft on your already crafted items or just order the item directly, if this is an item you are crafting for the first time.

Delve Updates during Turbo Boost

Delves are going to see an increase in rewards as well, with increased amounts of Valorstones, Crests and even Gilded Crests dropping from the chests at the end of each delve. You will also be seeing an increase in the amount of Delvers Bounty you will be earning, meaning if you are a little behind on the Delver’s Journey you will be able to catch up and earn all the rewards.

Mythic+ Improvements

Mythic+ is getting a small improvement in that the drop rate of Warbound on Equip Gear is being increased, so you will be finding a large amount of gear for your alts. The gear will always be one upgrade track lower than the track rewarded at the end of the dungeon, meaning from Mythic Plus keys between levels 2-6 you will receive a Veteran Track item and key levels 7 and higher you will get a Champion Track item.

With the new increase to maximum item levels and improved rewards from all content, it would seem like a great time to pick up a new character. If you are looking for a little guidance on your new spec we would recommend checking out our Class Guides.
