As you are progressing through Horrific Visions in Patch 11.1.5, you may be wondering what the masks are and how to unlock them, as some of the descriptions when interacting with them can be a little vague. We have 5 returning masks and 3 new masks introduced specifically for the revisited version of Horrific Visions.
Masks are an additional difficulty modifier for Horrific Visions; for each mask active, you increase the damage and health of all mobs by 25%, additionally, each of these come with a negative effect, which we have detailed below. The payoff of activating masks is that the more masks you have active, the higher the amount of Displaced Corrupted Mementos you receive.
The order we have put the masks in below is the order we think you will unlock of course this will change depending which version of Horrific Visions is currently active.
Faceless Mask of the Long Night
The Faceless Mask of the Long Night is the first faceless mask you will unlock. This is one of the hardest masks to use, as it reduces your maximum sanity by 50%.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of the Long Night you need to complete all five zones within a single Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar or Stormwind.
Faceless Mask of The Burned Bridge
The Faceless Mask of The Burned Bridge is one of the easier masks to deal with. It causes fire pools to spawn behind you, these deal fire damage over time and drain sanity if you remain in them.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of The Burned Bridge you need to complete the Valley of Wisdom in the Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar with at least one mask active.
Faceless Mask of the Daredevil
The Faceless Mask of the Daredevil is one of the harder masks to use. It causes all sanity drain to be increased by 400%.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of the Daredevil you need to complete the Valley of Honor, in the Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar with at least one mask active.
Faceless Mask of the Pained
The Faceless Mask of the Pained can be really difficult to deal with, it causes you to be afflicted with an additional madness in each zone.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of the Pained you need to complete the Old Town area in the Horrific Vision of Stormwind with at least one mask active.
Faceless Mask of Dark Imagination
The Faceless Mask of Dark Imagination is one of the easiest masks to deal with, it causes a Horrific Figment to occasionally spawn while you are below 50% sanity.

Faceless Mask of Vengeance
The Faceless Mask of Vengeance is a difficult mask to deal with, killing enemies will bolster nearby enemies with vengeance, increasing their damage done by 15%, and this effect stacks.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of Vengeance you need to loot the Mask of Vengeance within the Horrific Vision of Stormwind; the Mask of Vengeance is located in the canal area between Trade district and Old Town. It is surrounded by a group of Vengeful Voidspeakers that will need to be defeated. This only spawns with one mask active.
Faceless Mask of Multitudes
The Faceless Maks of Multitudes is one of the hardest masks to use. This mask increases the amount of enemies throughout Horrific visions, This can add some very deadly packs.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of Multitudes you need to complete all objectives and all enemies within a single visit of a Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar or Stormwind with at least 1 mask active. All objectives means fully completing all 4 side areas of either Orgrimmar or Stormwind. You also need to kill all enemies including those found in the canal, however, this does not include Craggle Wobbletop or the Sewer Beastling.
Faceless Mask of the Nemesis
The Faceless Mask of the Nemesis is one of the best masks to have active. Every 25 kills inside the horrific vision an elite mob will spawn that has sanity drain abilities, this can be helpful as the mob is an elite, meaning it interacts with the elite extermination, this is a tribute you unlock by killing elites in Horrific Visions, restoring up to 150 sanity when defeated.
To unlock the Faceless Mask of Nemesis you will need to collect two Nemesis Shards. You will collect one from each version of Horrific Visions (Stormwind and Orgrimmar). Both require at least one mask to be active. The Nemesis Shards are looted from a named mob in the Horrific Vision:
- The Origrimmar Nemesis Shard is looted from Gamon, who can be found up stairs in the inn, you need to interact with his axe on a table to spawn him.
- The Stormwind Nemesis Shard is looted from Hogger, you can spawn this by clicking on his wanted poster just outside the Mage Quarter.
