For Player Housing you will be able to change the colours of a variety of decor. The dyes can be bought on the Auction House or be made by either someone with the Alchemy or Inscription profession.
This guide will take you through the best place to farm the most efficient herbs to craft dyes for Player Housing. Specific herbs are used for different colour dyes, which we have covered in our How to Craft Dyes guide.
Best Herbs to Craft Dyes
If herbs are cheap on the Auction House, you can buy herbs to make into dyes. But if you want to farm the herbs yourself, we suggest mainly farming in Battle for Azeroth regions.
In Legion and Battle for Azeroth there are no ranks to the herbs, like you get in The War Within. Instead there are 3 ranks to herbing each type of flower, which in BfA corresponds to gaining more flowers per herb you pick. With rank 3 you gain around 5 flowers per node.

Kul Tiras and Zandalar are also stacked with herbs. Unless you have a lot of competition in your shard, you will frequently have situations where you constantly see 5-6 nodes on your minimap, whichever direction you move in, and you almost get annoyed that there’s too many to pick.
Akunda’s Bite (blue pigment) only grows in Volduun (Zandalar) and Winter’s Kiss (white pigment) only grows in Kul Tiras. This means that you have to swap over to the other continent to get that herb. That is the only possible annoyance with herbing in BfA.
If you want to herb a little faster, grab a pair of lower item level gloves and enchant them with Enchant Gloves - Kul Tiran Herbalism or Enchant Gloves - Zandalari Herbalism, these enchants increase the speed you gather herbs.
Purple Pigment
There is one flower missing altogether from Kul Tiras/Zandalar and that is Zin’anthid, which converts to purple pigment. For this you need to go to Nazjatar. However, the zone is small, and the flowers are not as frequent as the other BfA flowers. Instead, we suggest you head to Azsuna in Legion, and farm Aethril because of the following reasons:
- The portal goes straight there.
- It is the only flower in the whole zone, so every node will be Aethril.
- You get about 4-5 herbs per node.
- Sometimes you get attacked by a withered after collecting a node, which when killed drops another 10 Aethril.
We hope this helps you gather herbs more efficiently and that you have a lot of fun with the new Housing feature. Remember to use the Sky Golem mount to herb without being dismounted when you herb.
