Lumber is a new resource specifically for Player Housing, it is used to craft Decor by every primary profession. You collect lumber by clicking on trees throughout Azeroth, to start collecting lumber you will first need to complete a short quest Lumber for You.
Lumber looks to be an integral part of the new housing Decor system, if you want to craft every item you will need to farm large amounts especially if you want multiple of the same item.
In this guide we go over how to start collecting and where to find and farm Lumber and how to track it on your minimap.
How To Collect Lumber
To start collecting Lumber you will first need to visit Founder’s Point (Alliance Neighbourhood) or Razorwind Shores (Horde Neighbourhood) to complete the quest Lumber for You.
In Founder’s Point you can find Lestia Goldenstrik.

In the Horde Neighborhood you can find Xiz’ro.
/way Razorwind Shore 54.23 58.01
Both of these NPCs will give the quest called Lumber for you, which you can simply hand in at the same NPC. Completing this quest does not require the prepurchase of the Midnight expansion.
Once complete, you will be able to purchase a Harvesting Hatchet from either of the NPCs. This item allows you to collect lumber from a variety of locations around Azeroth.
Using the Harvesting Hatchet will allow you to track Lumber spawn locations on your minimap.
Where to Find Lumber
Lumber is found all over Azeroth, but different zones will result in different Lumber being acquired.
The Table below shows which zones give which type of lumber, and we have included where we think the best zone is to farm them.

Note: Lumber is a Warbound resource, meaning you can place a character in each of the zones to farm it, then mail it or place it in your warbound bank to be used by your characters that can craft it into Decor.
Shadowmoon Lumber
Shadowmoon Lumber is currently bugged and not spawning correctly. To fix this, Blizzard have added Shadowmoon Lumber to Lestia Goldenstrik and Xiz’ro vendor tables.
You can trade 5 Olemba Lumber for 5 Shadowmoon Lumber until they are fixed.
