How to Craft and use Dyes in Player Housing

Housing in World of Warcraft Midnight will include Dyes, these allow you to change the colour of specific parts on most decor. Dyes will need to be crafted, but can be purchased on the auction house if you don’t want to craft your own.

In this guide we cover, how to craft dyes and how to use them for your Player House items.

Crafting Housing Dyes

To craft Dyes you need a character with either Alchemy or Inscription, both professions have access to the dye recipes and are learnt straight away with the Classic variants of the professions.

There are 2 steps to craft dyes. The first is to convert herbs into pigments, this takes 10 of any herb and converts it into a single pigment, the quality of the herb does not increase the amount of pigment you receive, always use whatever is cheapest. Different herbs will result in different pigments.

Once you have the pigments you can go to either Founder’s Point (Alliance Neighbourhood) or Razorwind Shores (Horde Neighbourhood), and find the Dye Crafting Table where you can convert your pigments into dyes.

We have broken down each of the colour pigments you can obtain in the tables below, so you can easily identify what herbs you need to collect.

Black

Black Pigments are used to create Dark Iron, Darkwood, Ironclaw, Obsidium Black, Stormheim Grey and Stormsteel Dyes.

Blue

Blue Pigments are used to create Alliance Blue, Dusk Lily Grey, Midnight Blue, Nazjatar Navy and Zephras Blue Dyes.

Brown

Brown Pigments are used to create the Dark Gold, Earthen Brown, Heartwood, Kalimdor Sand, Mesquite Brown, Pale Umber, Timbermaw Brown, Vol’dun Taupe and Warm Teak Dyes.

Green

Green Pigments are used to make Dustwallow Green, Earthroot, Emerald Dreaming, Gravemoss Green, Grizzly Hills Green, Lush Green and Silversage Green Dyes.

Orange

Orange pigments make Bronze, Copper, Elwynn Pumpkin and Koboldhide Brown Dyes.

Purple

Purple Pigments are used to make Arcwine, Forsaken Plum, Kirin Tor Violet, Moonberry Amethyst, Netherstorm Fuchsia, Nightsong Lilac, Void Violet Dyes.

Red

Red pigments are used to create Deep Mageroyal Red, Firebloom Red, Gilnean Rose, Hinterlands Hickory, Horde Red, Mahogany, Rain Poppy Red and Ratchet Rust Dyes.

Teal

Teal Pigments are used for Kul Tiran Steel, Tidesage Teal, Un’guro Green and Vortex Teal Dyes.

White

White Pigments are used to craft Basic Birch, Bone-White, Highborne Marble and Highland Birch Dyes.

Yellow

Yellow Pigments are used to craft Brass, Gold, Holy Oak Tan, Pinewood, Sandfury Yellow, Savannah Gold, Sungrass Yellow and Zandalari Gold Dyes.
