Lumber can be found throughout Azeroth and is reagent for every crafted Decor item. These Decor items are used to decorate Player Houses and can be sold on the Auction House, making farming lumber a necessary part of the process.
This guide shows you some of the best routes to farm every type of lumber in World of Warcraft.
Generally the best zones to farm Lumber in are the ones with trees, zones like Deepholm have no trees and therefore no Lumber. If you are unsure how to start collecting Lumber you can check out our How to Farm Lumber Guide, it doesn’t take long at all.
If you are a Herbalist farming for Dyes at the same time as farming for lumber, we recommend picking a zone that has the herbs you are looking for. For more information on what herbs to farm for Dyes, you can check our How to Craft and Use Dyes Guide.
The different types of Lumber you can collect:
- Ironwood Lumber
- Olemba Lumber
- Coldwind Lumber
- Ashwood Lumber
- Bamboo Lumber
- Fel-Touched Lumber
- Darkpine Lumber
- Arden Lumber
- Dragonpine Lumber
- Dornic Fir Lumber
Ironwood Lumber Farming Route
Ironwood Lumber can be found in classic zones of Azeroth, most of the zones with a dense amount of trees are a great option. Below are 2 of the best farming routes for Ironwood Lumber, one for Eastern Kingdoms and one for Kalimdor.

Olemba Lumber Farming Route
Olemba Lumber can be found in Outland Zones. We found the best place to farm Olemba Lumber is in Zangarmarsh.

Coldwind Lumber Farming Route
Coldwind Lumber can be found in Northrend. We recommend farming in either Scholozar Basin or Grizzly Hills. We personally think Grizzly Hills is the best place to farm Coldwind Lumber.

Ashwood Lumber Farming Route
Ashwood Lumber can be found in Cataclysm Zones. Most of the Cataclysm zones are quite desolate other than Hyjal, so we recommend farming Ashwood Lumber in Hyjal.

Bamboo Lumber Farming Route
Bamboo Lumber can be found in Mist of Pandaria Zones. Although Jade Forest has a lot of trees we found that the zone was overly dense making it hard to find the right tree, slowing down the gathering speed.
Despite it being quite desolate, we found that the east side of Kun-Lai Summit was the best place to farm Bamboo Lumber.

Fel-Touched Lumber Farming Route
Fel-Touched Lumber is found on the Broken Isles, and most of the zones are fairly good for farming lumber. However, we found Azsuna to be the best place for Fel-Touched Lumber, because it was less vertical, making it easy to navigate and you spend less time flying up and down.

Darkpine Lumber Farming Route
Darkpine Lumber is found in Battle for Azeroth Zones. While most of the zones are pretty good, we have included the best routes for Darkpine Lumber in Zandalar and Kul Tiras.

Arden Lumber Farming Route
Arden Lumber can be found in Shadowlands zones. We recommend Ardenweald, as we found this to be the best place to farm Arden Lumber. However, if Ardenweald was busy, the other Shadowlands zones were almost as good.

Dragonpine Lumber Farming Route
Dragonpine Lumber can be found in the Dragon Isles. We recommend farming Dragonpine Lumber in the Azure Span, but a good alternative is Amirdrassil. You can get to Amirdrassil by taking the portal to Bel’ameth in Stormwind.

Dornic Fir Lumber Farming Route
Dorning Fir can be found on Khaz Algar. Both Hallowfall and the Isle of Dorn are pretty good places to farm Dornic Fir Lumber. However, we prefer the Isle of Dorn because it is a little less vertical than Hallowfall.

We hope this guide helped you obtain all the lumber you need to start filling out your Player House with crafted Decor. If you are looking for more information about Player Housing, then check out more of our Player Housing Guides.
