Dune Awakening's endgame, the Deep Desert, introduces a new PVP mechanic to the game: base raiding. If you build your base in the PVP area of the Deep Desert (half way up row E and beyond) then that base has a chance to become vulnerable whenever a storm hits that area.
This is where the Lasgun comes in. The Lasgun is a weapon in Dune Awakening which is used primarily for base raiding, thanks to its high, continuous structural damage and low cost to operate (relying only on power).
It's not only useful for raiding, but that is really where it shines. So you're wondering, how do you get a Lasgun? Well read on and we'll run through all of the different methods.

How To Get A Lasgun - Complete The 'Cutting Edge' Quest
The 'Cutting Edge' quest chain is a late-game quest chain consisting of four quests that concludes with a Lasgun as a reward. To pick it up, head to the Crossroads Tradepost, just east of Mysa Tarill.

At the Crossroads Tradepost, interact with the Contract Board and accept the first quest: 'Cutting Edge: Equipment Needed'.
Quest 1 - Cutting Edge: Equipment Needed
This quest is both simple, and also very difficult. Simple because all you have to do is hand in an item to complete it, difficult because that item is the Cutteray Mk6, the highest tier of Cutteray in the game!
If you plan on crafting the Cutteray Mk6 yourself, you'll need an Advanced Survival Fabricator and then the following crafting materials:
- Plastanium Ingot x 50
- EMF Generator x 30
- Cobalt Paste x 30
- Thermo-Responsive Ray Amplifier x 6
- Thermoelectic Cooler x 9
- Spice Melange x 27
As you will quickly deduce, this is not an easy craft. It requires the most advanced crafting components in the game, many of which are only available within the Deep Desert.
You do also have the option of buying it from the Exchange if you have enough Solari, but please note that the Cutteray Mk6 has to be brand new! Make sure it has no wear and tear.
However you obtain it, once you have it you can take it back to the Contracts Board at the Crossroads Tradepost and contact the issuer to complete the first quest.
Quest 2 - Cutting Edge: Boosting Power
The next quest in the chain, Boosting Power, is going to take us to Wreck of the Tartarus on the eastern edge of Sheol, the radioactive wasteland in the southwest.
Note: If you want to be safe, grab a Radiation Suit and/or Iodine Pills as the Wreck and surrounding area is fully irradiated.
Head to the Wreck and the Amplifier you need to interact with should be just inside to your left. Other than the radiation and a few traps around the chests, there's not much to worry about here.
Head back to the Crossroads Tradepost to deliver the Amplifier, then contact the issuer to complete the quest.
Quest 3 - Cutting Edge: Finding Focus
Don't bother changing out of your Radiation Suit because for the third quest, we're head back to another Wreck in Sheol. This time we're heading to Wreck of the Delphis, the major wreck in the centre of Sheol.
The Wreck of the Delphis is a lot harder to navigate than the previous Wreck however, it has a confusing layout and is very dark. We've prepared a guide/map for you to follow below, assuming you enter from the main (front) entrance.
Basically head through into the first room and hang a right until you reach the corridor that runs up the side of the Wreck. Progress forward until you see the green locked door, head left from there into the second 'main chamber'. Follow your map icon here to find the Modulator behind one of the giant generator units.
Pro Tip: We've also included the location of the ID Bands and reward chest etc in the layout above in case you want to complete the wreck of the loot & unique schematic while you are there.
Head back to the Crossroads Tradepost and deliver the Modulator, then contact the issuer to complete the third quest and take the final quest.
Quest 4 - Cutting Edge: Proper Thanks
There isn't really much to this final quest. Head just northwest of Mysa Tarill to meet 'Ruthe's friends'. You'll find a scroll when you get there at ground level.
Once you interact with the scroll, four Maas Kharet assassins will spawn around you, eliminate them to complete the quest and receive your Arhun K-28 Lasgun! You'll also receive a cosmetic stillsuit variant (Mercenary).
How To Get A Lasgun - Craft The Black Market K-28 Lasgun
The second way you can obtain a Lasgun in Dune Awakening is to craft one yourself. The Black Market K-28 Lasgun is a Unique Mk6 Lasgun and is the most powerful Lasgun in the game, dealing 84.7 'damage per shot' compared to the Arhun K-28 Lasgun's 64.2.
As you have probably already guessed though - crafting this is no easy task.
Obtaining The Black Market K-28 Lasgun Unique Schematic
First, you'll need to actually obtain the schematic/blueprint in order to obtain the permit(s) to craft it. This unique schematic can only be found in the Deep Desert and only when it is in that week's loot table, which is on rotation. You can check out our Deep Desert Companion to see which schematics are available in the Deep Desert at any time.
I believe that this is considered a 'rare' schematic and therefore appears in Testing Stations that belong to the PVP section of the Deep Desert. That means you have to clear a very difficult Testing Station (if you are solo) which may involve being locked in several rooms and dealing with many waves of enemies.
The final challenge is that this is a much sought after item for high-end players and especially high-end PVP guilds. When this schematic is in rotation, you will often find groups or guilds pretty much camping the Testing Station it drops from so they can grab the schematic whenever it's up. So proceed with caution!
You do of course have the option of buying it from the Exchange also, which honestly might be a better bet if you can find one at at a somewhat reasonable price.
Crafting the Black Market K-28 Lasgun
So you found a week where the Black Market K-28 Lasgun is in rotation, you found a quiet moment where the Testing Station was empty and you were able to clear it out and loot the schematic - congrats! Now to craft it.
To start with, you'll need an Advanced Weapons Fabricator. Then to craft it, you'll need the following crafting materials:
- Plastanium Ingot x 90
- Mechanical Parts x 37
- Cobalt Paste x 58
- Plasteel Composite Gun Parts x 28
- Thermo-responsive Ray Amplifier x 8
- Spice Melange x 93
- Spice-infused Plastanium Dust x 21
- Water x 530
Now you are ready to raid! We hope this guide helped.
