How Does The Landsraad Work in Dune: Awakening?

Written by Geekmandem - 28th June 2025

The Landsraad is intended to be one of the core end-game systems in Dune Awakening, combining PvE, PvP, and political elements. Once you progress beyond the early stages of the game and join a guild and faction, the Landsraad system starts to come into play.

The Landsraad has a lot of potential and can provide players with alternate means to earn great rewards. Although there have been some early issues cited (which we'll get onto later), we're hopeful it will end up being a great part of the game.

In this article, we’ll break down what the Landsraad system is, how it works, and anything else we think you'll find helpful.

What Is The Landsraad?

The Landsraad is the endgame system where players and guilds compete for their faction (Atreides or Harkonnen) to earn voting power in order to enact server-wide decrees. You can almost think of it as Dune Awakening's political system.

It's a faction-vs-faction system, but the tasks are performed individually and voting power is awarded to guilds based on the performance of their members.

The tl;dr version of the Landsraad is as follows:

  • Each Landsraad 'term' lasts one week, reset when everything else resets each Tuesday.
  • There are 25 houses which can be 'claimed' to a faction each week, represented in a 5x5 board in the Landsraad interface;
  • 5 Houses will go live each day and announce their task (such as 'turn in an Adept Pistol');
  • Players from each faction will earn points and the faction that reaches 70,000 points first 'claim' that House for the week;
  • The first faction to complete a 'Sysselraad' which is 5 claimed houses in a row, column or diagonally, or which has met most house requirements by the end of the week, takes control;
  • The faction that wins control of the Landsraad can enact a decree which lasts for the following week; and
  • Guilds within the faction that wins can vote on which decree to enact based on the contribution of their members towards the house requirements.

Note: You can actually also pay 300 Spice Melange to a House Representative (they are located all around Hagga Basin, Arrakeen and Harko Village) to unlock a House Task early but this is so expensive that it's only likely to be used by huge guilds in the late game.

How Do You Access The Landsraad?

The Landsraad interface can be accessed by pressing “L”. If it’s your first time, you’ll get a bunch of tutorial popups that try to explain the basics. Otherwise, you will see something similar to what is shown above.

Remember that the Landsraad is a faction vs faction system. So the first thing you need to do is commit to a faction, and then ideally find a guild. You can only join a guild that is aligned with your faction.

If you want to play solo, you can still take part in the tasks and earn rewards but your ability to shape the overall vote will naturally be limited.

Landsraad House Tasks Explained

When a house becomes active, you will have two ways you can individually earn points towards claiming it.

Earning Points - Specific Tasks

Each house will offer a specific task that you can complete repeatedly to earn points. These tasks vary in difficulty and the points awarded are adjusted to reflect that. The tasks include:

  • Killing NPCs (Sandflies, Deserters etc)
  • Delivering crafted gear
  • Delivering components or raw materials

For the tasks that require you to deliver items, you will need to deliver these items to the 'Faction Quartermaster'. The Faction Quartermasters are located as follows:

  • Atreides - Just north of Helius Gate & in Arrakeen
  • Harkonnen - North of Riftwatch & in Harko Village

You will see an icon on your map indicating their exact location (as long as you are aligned with that faction).

Earning Points - Holding Control Points

The second way you can earn points is by capturing and holding the Deep Desert Control Point which corresponds to that House. You will earn 10 points per minute that you hold the control point.

Landsraad Rewards

The first thing to note is that some of the Landsraad rewards are very powerful. You can get access to the best unique weapons, tools & vehicles in the game from the Landsraad personal contribution rewards. However, obtaining them won't be easy!

As soon as a house becomes active, you can start completing the tasks they assign. For the best rewards (for gameplay), you'll want to reach the second highest 'reward tier', Tier 4. The reward tiers are as follows (same for all houses):

  • Tier 1 - 700 - ~10,000 Solari or low-tier crafting components
  • Tier 2 - 3,500 - A Mk5 or equivalent tier item
  • Tier 3 - 7,000 - Mk6 crafting components
  • Tier 4 - 10,500 - Unique schematic
  • Tier 5 - 14,000 - Cosmetic item (swatch)

To claim your rewards for personal contributions, you have to head to the House Representative (not the Faction Quartermaster) for the house that you completed the tasks for. You will have to locate them on the map.

Landsraad Decrees

The faction which completes a 'Sysselraad' which is 5 claimed houses in a row, column or diagonally, or which has met most house requirements by the end of the week, takes control of the Landsraad and can enact a beneficial 'decree' that will have a server-wide effect for the following week (starting on Tuesday).

The decree options change each week and the voting menu is shown in the image above. Voting is done on a per-guild basis based on how much personal point contributions the members of each guild made.

Decrees can have a big effect, for example one decree can result in 'full loot PVP' in the Deep Desert, while others can reduce crafting costs/time or provide access to powerful Landsraad vendors.

The Future Of The Landsraad

The Landsraad definitely has a lot of potential but players have lodged a number of complaints since it launched, mainly that the houses are claimed so quickly that it can feel almost impossible to earn individual rewards.

However, these concerns have already been addressed and in a recent statement from Funcom's Creative Director, they announced that:

  • The tasks will become much more varied over time;
  • They plan to address then inability to hand in items after a square is completed;
  • They don't want to encourage huge resource stockpiling so will consider how they can address that also; and
  • They plan to review the reward system to better reward solo and small group players.
