World of Warcraft Midnight Season 2 is a great time to start catching up with gear, and diving into the new Mythic+ Dungeons and the The Venomous Abyss Raid Bosses.
Midnight Season 2, and Patch 12.1, has introduced some changes to gear acquisition. No matter the level of difficulty that you play the game at, this guide will take you through the changes to help you acquire the best gear possible.
Note: The first catch up gearing steps are not necessary for characters that already have decent gear from Season 1.

How to Catch Up with Gear in WoW Midnight Season 2
Your character might not have been used at all during Midnight Season 1, and might just have leveling gear on. So the first step is to start getting enough catchup gear that you can enter and progress through Midnight Season 2 Dungeons, Raids, Delves and Prey.
Note: If your character is under item level 286 you will probably struggle to get into group content. However, if you have friends who are willing to help you through Mythic 0s and lower keys, this is a great solution to picking up some easy gear.
If you are looking for PvP, the easiest way to catch up with gear is turning on War Mode and collecting War Supply Crates while queuing for Battlegrounds, to gain Honor and Bloody Tokens for gear.
Renown Reputation Champion Gear
Midnight introduced four main renown. Unlike previous expansions, there are no crest rewards, however, if you have not already received it, you can get a Champion Track Necklace, Helmet, Belt and Trinket, which have been upgraded to Season 2 item levels.
Note: New to Midnight Season 2, if you reach Renown 9 with the new Zul’jarra’s Forces reputation, you can get Champion Track Bracers.

Complete Midnight Season 2 Weekly Apex Cache Events
One of the quickest ways to pick up some starter gear is by doing the Weekly Apex Cache Quests, with your first two Apex Caches rewarding a piece of Veteran Gear. These can be picked up in Silvermoon just outside the bank.

Field Accolade’s Caches in Midnight Season 2
If you are still missing a few gear slots below Veteran Track and have some Field Accolade’s available, you can purchase Veteran Track gear boxes for 750 Field Accolades and target specific slots, or a random Veteran Track item for 500 Field Accolades. You can farm Field Accolade’s from doing either Void Strikes or Ritual Sites.
The Veteran Track gear boxes, Cache of Void-Touched Armaments, are sold by Maren Silverwing, who can be found in Silvermoon City.

How to Gear Fast Through PvE in WoW Midnight Season 2
Now that you have collected some catch up gear, or if you already had decent gear from Midnight Season 1, you can start doing some Midnight Season 2 content; Mythic 0 Dungeons, Delves, Mythic+ Dungeons and Raiding.
Mythic Dungeons
First, Mythic 0s are a great place to start, since the gear from them is better than any gear from Season 1. Mythic 0 dungeons drop item level 292 (1/6 Champion Track) gear, which can drop from every boss (unlike in Mythic+). It is also a good way to start collecting crests to upgrade your gear early into the Season.
Note: If you are able to organise an armor type group stack, this can really help speed up the gearing process; ensuring more of the needed armor type will drop, and letting you trade any items you don’t need to someone more likely to use that item.
The first week of the patch (before Season 2 officially starts) the Mythic 0 dungeons have a weekly lockout, but once Season 2 starts the M0 lockout changes to daily. These dungeons are also great for getting some hands-on experience with the dungeons before setting foot into Mythic+.

Nightmare Prey Hunts
Prey in Midnight Season 2 is a great way to get started with seasonal content. If you can manage, we recommend only doing Nightmare prey as these reward Champion Track gear. Unlike last season Nightmare Prey is much easier and more approachable, even in worse gear. In addition to this, you can do 5 Nightmare Prey Hunts per week for Champion Track gear.
Tier 8 Bountiful Delves
Delves are great solo content for gear, if you can complete Bountiful Delves on Tier 8.
Make sure you do not complete Bountiful Delves before you are on Tier 8. Completing a Bountiful Delve with a restored coffer key will give you a Champion Track item. You can do this as many times as Restored Coffer Keys that you have, but you are capped to only being able to create 6 Restored Coffer Keys per week. There are also only 4 Bountiful Delves available per day.
You can get a single piece of Hero Track gear per week from Delves, it requires a Delver’s Bounty (Delve Map). Using a Delver’s Bounty in a Tier 8 or higher delve, before defeating the final boss, will spawn a chest at the end of the delve that contains a random 1/6 Hero Track Delve item.
By completing Tier 8 Bountiful Delves, Nightmare Prey and Mythic 0s you should have no issues getting enough gear to get into Mythic+ keys and Raids.
Mythic+ Dungeons
Mythic+ is a great way to start getting Hero Track gear. Hero Track gear starts dropping from Keystone level 6 or higher.
Once you are comfortable with the new Mythic+ dungeons, you can start trying to run keystone level 10 and above, which will reward Myth Track loot in the Great Vault, and you will also receive Mythic Mistcrests for completing them.
Note: For the maximum amount of Myth Mistcrests awarded you want to reach Key level 12 or above.

Raiding
Raids are getting the highest level of gear rewards available in WoW Midnight Season 2.
The Venomous Abyss Raid and The Tidebound Grotto Lair will be available from the first week of Midnight Season 2 on all difficulties, and every boss you defeat drops gear; check out our Raid Rewards in Midnight Season 2 Guide for the item level each boss drops gear at.
One of the changes made in Midnight Season 2 is in the Great Vault. When you unlock a Raiding Vault slot in WoW Patch 12.1, the Great Vault will now reward one difficulty higher than the difficulty you used to unlock the vault slot. For example, killing 2 bosses on normal difficulty will grant you a Hero track item in the vault, and killing heroic raid bosses will give Myth track gear in the Vault.
For killing Mythic bosses, the Great Vault will now offer maxed out mythic track items, saving you Mistcrests.
This means gearing through raids will be significantly faster than it has been in previous seasons, and with the last 2 bosses of the raid being the only place to loot gear beyond 6/6 Myth Track, Midnight Season 2 is definitely a good time to progress through the difficulties.
Nebulous Voidcores
Nebulous Voidcores, Bonus Rolls, will be returning in Midnight Season 2. These will be a great way to easily get your hands on some Myth Track gear. Especially since the Nebulous Voidcores cost for a Raid Boss has been reduced to 1.
Although the main acquisition method of Nebulous Voidcores won’t be implemented until week 8 of the season, you will still be able to acquire and use them from Week 2 of Midnight Season 2. If you have unlocked 3 slots in the Great Vault, you will have the option to take a Nebulous Voidcore from the Great Vault instead of a Gear reward.
Using a Nebulous Voidcore in a Heroic raid, Mythic Raid or Mythic Keystone +10 or higher will give a Myth track item. The loot rewarded matches the item level and upgrade track that you would receive from the Great Vault for the difficulty of content you complete. This will let you target Best in Slot Mythic Raid and Dungeon items from easier content, with the only cost being the amount of Mistcrests needed to upgrade it to the item’s max item level.

How to use Crafting and the Catalyst
The last option for gear is crafting and using the Catalyst.
With the launch of Midnight, Blizzard introduced a new achievement, Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound, that when you get your 4-Set Tier Set Bonus you will be able to naturally loot Catalyst Charges while doing Raid, Mythic+ and Delves. This means that you will want to get a four-set as soon as possible, by clearing the raid on as many difficulties as you can to pick up tier pieces.
Assuming you have Catalyst charges available, once you have a few Tier Set bonus pieces you can catalyze the gear slots that you are missing to finish off your 4-set bonus, unlocking the Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound Achievement.
Note: This is worth doing even on bad gear, as it makes you start collecting extra charges sooner, and you will quickly regain the charge you used on the bad item.
Getting either Ahead of the Curve, Keystone Master or 1800 Rating in PvP will grant you an additional charge for the Catalyst.
For the first few weeks you will most likely want to save your crafting sparks for embellished gear. You can check our WoW Class Guides for more information on what to craft for your specialization.
If after a few weeks you have still been unlucky with gear you can use crafted gear to improve the item level for that slot, as when crafted with Mistcrests at max rank it will be 331 item level.
By progression through the content outlined in this guide, you should be on your way to having a well geared character, or be geared enough to be able to get yourself into more content.
