The Great Vault is receiving some changes in WoW Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1). In particular, a huge buff to the Raid section of the Great Vault. With lower difficulty levels of content now dropping higher difficulty levels of content rewards in the Great Vault, and putting more focus on the importance of Crests.
In this guide we will go over what item levels and reward track you will receive based on the content you completed the week before.
Great Vault types in WoW Midnight Season 2:
Changes to the Great Vault in WoW Midnight Season 2
Midnight Season 2 changes the vault in several ways. The first and probably the most important change is you will now be able to choose Nebulous Voidcore (Bonus Roll) instead of a usual Great Vault reward.
Note: This will only be available from your second vault of the Season, and you will need any three Vault slots filled to be able to select it as an option.
The second change is that the Great Vault rewards for Raiding gives an item quality of the difficulty above the difficulty of the raid bosses you defeated when unlocking the vault slot, and Mythic Raiding vaults slots now drop at maximum item level, saving you a lot of crests.
WoW Midnight Season 2 Raid Great Vault Rewards
The Raiding row of the WoW Midnight Season 2 Great Vault has been improved. Unlike previous seasons, completing a raid vault slot on a lower difficulty will now reward an item from one difficulty higher. For example, if you kill 2 bosses on the Heroic version of the Venomous Abyss (unlocking the first vault slot for raiding), you will receive a 1/6 Myth Track Item.
The difference between defeating a lower difficulty of raid and unlocking a raiding Great Vault slot through Mythic Raiding is the progression through the Myth Upgrade Track for the item you receive, and therefore the amount of crests needed to upgrade the item to the max item level.
The table below shows what each difficulty of the raid Vault slot will reward and the item’s progress through the respective upgrade Track.
| Raid Difficulty | Great Vault Reward Track |
| LFR | Champion 1/6 |
| Normal | Hero 1/6 |
| Heroic | Myth 1/6 |
| Mythic | Myth 6/6 |
| Mythic (Last 2 Bosses) | Mythic 9/6 |
You will need to defeat the following amount of raid bosses to unlock the raiding vault slots:
- 2 raid bosses for 1 Vault slot
- 4 raid bosses for 2 Vault slots
- 6 raid bosses for 3 Vault slots
WoW Midnight Season 2 Mythic Dungeon Great Vault Rewards
The Mythic+ Dungeon Great Vault will still give great rewards in WoW Midnight Season 2, and will be the only way to get Myth Track dungeon loot outside of Nebulous Voidcore (Bonus Rolls).
The table below shows what Mythic+ Key Level you need to do for a specific item level reward.
| Keystone Level | Great Vault Reward Track | Item Level |
| 2 | Hero 1/6 | 305 |
| 3 | Hero 1/6 | 305 |
| 4 | Hero 2/6 | 308 |
| 5 | Hero 2/6 | 308 |
| 6 | Hero 3/6 | 311 |
| 7 | Hero 4/6 | 311 |
| 8 | Hero 4/6 | 311 |
| 9 | Hero 4/6 | 311 |
| 10 | Myth 1/6 | 318 |
| 11 | Myth 1/6 | 318 |
| 12+ | Myth 1/6 | 318 |
You will need to complete the following amount of Mythic+ Keys to unlock the Dungeon vault slots:
- 1 Mythic+ Key for 1 Vault slot
- 4 Mythic+ Keys for 2 Vault slots
- 8 Mythic+ Keys for 3 Vault slots
WoW Midnight Season 2 World Content Great Vault Rewards
The World Activity row of the Great Vault for WoW Midnight Season 2 is mostly unchanged, with just a few new ways to unlock better rewards or more vault slots through completing World Content. Compared to the Raiding and Dungeon rows, you will not be able to get any Myth Track items from the World Tier Vault slots.
Delves are a great way to fill out your vault early into WoW Midnight Season 2. The table below shows the Delve Tier you will need to complete to earn the different levels of rewards, their upgrade track and their item level.
| Delve Tier | Great Vault Reward Track | Item Level |
| 1 | Veteran 1/6 | 279 |
| 2 | Veteran 2/6 | 282 |
| 3 | Veteran 3/6 | 285 |
| 4 | Veteran 4/6 | 289 |
| 5 | Champion 1/6 | 292 |
| 6 | Champion 3/6 | 298 |
| 7 | Champion 4/6 | 302 |
| 8 | Hero 1/6 | 305 |
Along with Delves you can do Prey, which can also be good to fill the vault with as they are fairly quick to do. For more information on Prey in Midnight Season 2, you can check out our Prey in WoW Midnight Season 2 Guide.
The table below shows what each difficulty of Prey rewards in the Great Vault.
| Prey Difficulty | Great Vault Reward Track | Item level |
| Normal | Veteran 1/6 | 279 |
| Hard | Champion 1/6 | 292 |
| Nightmare | Hero 1/6 | 305 |
You can also take part in other world activities such as Ritual Sites to contribute to a Great Vault slot. However, these rewards are capped at Champion Track, and we would recommend doing either Delves or Prey to get Hero track gear instead, as the difficulty of the content is relatively similar.
WoW Midnight Season 2 is updating the Great Vault to have a slightly different approach to gearing, moving more towards Crests being the focus, whilst locking the absolute highest item level gear behind Mythic Raiding.
