Abyss Anglers is a new activity in Patch 12.0.5 of Midnight. The Abyss Anglers will take you deep into the Zul’Aman Depths, giving a new look to fishing in World of Warcraft, now with harpoons.
While in the Zul’Aman Depths you will be harpoon fishing to collect a new currency called Anglers Pearls. These pearls can then be used to purchase new cosmetic items, decor items and upgrades to your diving equipment from unlocking achievements for completing different challenges.

Diving With The Abyss Anglers
Diving is the core of the activity, to start diving speak with Depthdiver Jeju and select the “Suit up for a dive” option. Once you have selected to dive you will be teleported deep into the depths of the Zul’Aman sea, from here you can start interacting with the event.
Diving Abilities
Once in a dive you will gain a new breath meter that will slowly deplete as you spend time inside of dives along with some new abilities used to catch fish and quickly get around the deep depths of Zul’Aman:
- Dash - An instant cast that will propel you forward through the water at high speed.
- Fire Harpoon - A short cast that will shoot a harpoon, used to break down fish scales and used to catch vulnerable fish.
- Surface! - Ascend to the surface to end your dive.
Types of Fish
When you start Diving you will only have a limited amount of breath and won’t be able to explore far enough to collect the rarer types of fish. As you interact with the activity more, gaining achievements and Anglers Pearls, you will slowly be able to upgrade your diving gear and explore deeper into the Zul’Aman Depths to find and collect all of the fish rarities.
Inside of diving there are multiple different types of fish, all having different rarities, overall there are 6 different rarities including; Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic.
The table below shows you all of the fish along with their rarities.
| Rarity | Fish |
| Common | Finnow, Zipperfish, Porcofrill |
| Uncommon | Brakkpuffer, Shallows Scamp, Crustleech, Plecofin, Flitray, Trench Crawler |
| Rare | Kobiamora, Axetooth Thresher, Cragback Sea Turtle, Dolphfin, Murkskimmer |
| Epic | Abyss Fangray, Umbramot Eel, Sightless Skimmer |
| Legendary | Gemscale Nymph, Depthbash Thresher, Seamare |
| Mythic | Champion of Pahk |
Fish Scales
Inside of Dives you will notice that some fish are a bit more difficult to catch due to their “scales”. You can use your Harpoon to slowly break down the scales on fish and eventually catch them by firing the Harpoon at them when they have no scales left to protect them.
As you explore more of the depths you will see more fish of higher rarities and a larger amount of scales, it can be difficult to break down all of the scales by yourself so be sure to look out for other players inside of the activity that can help you break down some of the larger fish in the Depths.

Treasures and Relics
While diving you will find small relics and treasures deep in the Zul’Aman depths that can be collected for points and after collecting enough relics you will be able to unlock fishing nets that can be used to catch smaller creatures on the sea floor of the depths for a smaller amount of points.
After you catch a Mythic creature you will gain the achievement Abyss Anglers: Pressurized Eyeglass and will be able to purchase the Pressurized Eyeglass from Depthdiver Jeju. This will allow you to find Ancient Treasures during Abyss Angler Dives and will reward you with a greater amount of points.

Gaining Points in Abyss Angler Dives
While in a dive you will gain points based on the amount of things you do. Each activity inside dives will reward you with some points, with more difficult and harder to find things earning you more points.
The more points you gain while in a dive will reward you with a better Anglers Pearls yield. You will need Angler Pearls to purchase upgrades and cosmetic items from the vendors involved with the Abyss Anglers.
