WoW Midnight Patch 12.1.5 introduces Ascendant Venomstones, these work the same way as the Ascendant Voidcores in Midnight Season 1; you will be able to use the Ascendant Venomstones to further upgrade your max upgraded Hero and Myth Track level Weapons, Crafted Weapons, Trinkets and now Necklaces to an even higher item level than before.
In order to upgrade any of your items you will need to collect 10 Ascendant Venomstones. These drop from most end game activities in Midnight Season 2, such as Heroic and Mythic Raid Bosses, Mythic+ level 10 or above Dungeons, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves and Nightmare Prey Champion Chests.
However, before you can start collecting Ascendant Venomstones you will need to complete a new quest from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City.
Unlocking Ascendant Venomstones in WoW Midnight Season 2
Upon the launch of Midnight Patch 12.1.5 Orin Straylight will offer a new quest called Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom.
Orin Straylight can be found near The Catalyst in Silvermoon City.

Note: If you do not see the Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom quest you may need to complete his previous quest, Prismatic Potential. You can learn more about this in our Unlocking Bonus Rolls Guide.
After completing the Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom quest Orin will begin his research into the Ascendant Venomstones, and we will need to wait until he completes his research the following week. After Orin finishes his research he will offer the quest Ascending with Venomstones, allowing players to begin collecting Ascendant Venomstones.
Note: This means you will not be able to start collecting Ascendant Venomstones until October 20th (NA) or October 21st (EU).
Collecting Ascendant Venomstones in Midnight Season 2
After Orin Straylight has finished his research you will be able to earn guaranteed Ascendant Venomstones from various end game activities in Midnight such as:
- Heroic and Mythic Raid Bosses (Venomous Abyss and The Unbinding of Kith’ix)
- Mythic+ Keystone Level 10 Dungeons and above
- Tier 11 Bountiful Delves
- Nightmare Prey Champion Chests (first 2 Weekly Nightmare Prey Hunts)
To begin upgrading your items you will need to collect 10 Ascendant Venomstones from any of the sources listed above.
Ascendant Venomstone Item Level Upgrades
Once you are able to start collecting Ascendant Venomstones, you can use 10 of them to increase the item level of fully upgraded Hero and Myth Track Weapons, Crafted Weapons, Trinkets and Necklaces.
Note: Items gained from Mythic The Coiled Altar and Mythic Ula’tek can already be upgraded to 344 Item level and therefore cannot be upgraded any further by using Ascendant Venomstones.
The table below lists the items max item level before using any Ascendant Venomstones and the max Item level you make them after using Ascendant Venomstones on the item.

After using an Ascendant Venomstone on an item, the item will become Ascended and will no longer be able to receive any more upgrades.
