Best Omnium Folio Runes Builds in Midnight WoW

Written by Roguery - 15th June 2026

The Omnium Folio is a player power system unlocked in Patch 12.0.7 of the Midnight WoW Expansion. It will be following us through the rest of the expansion, so knowing what the best build is and how to change your options will be important.

If you feel like you want to try a different Rune on each tier, such as change our secondary stat buff or try a different Capstone power, You can easily change by clicking on the Omnium Folio Icon on the minimap and right clicking removes points.

how to change your omnium folio

The Omnium Folio comprises 5 different tiers each with 1 to 4 nodes which are unlocked by completing a weekly quest. You can find out more information in our How to Unlock the Omnium Folio Guide.

This guide will go over our recommendation for the best choice in each tier of the Omnium Folio.

Tier 1 - Core Rune (Week 1)

The first tier of the Omnium Folio is a simple choice between either Rune Of Unleashed Fire and Rune Of Void-Touched Orbs. During our testing Rune Of Unleashed Fire generally performed slightly better for most classes, especially if you can maintain a high uptime.

Although for pet classes such as Unholy DK or Beast Mastery Hunter, Healers or if your uptime is interrupted for a long time, then Rune Of Void-Touched Orbs was generally performing slightly better.

Tier 2 - Defensive Rune (Week 2)

Tier 2 is a defensive choice, so will not have an impact on your damage for the most part. Generally we prefer Rune Of Void-Tainted Shell as shields are more likely to save you from mechanics. Although you could take the Rune Of Self-Mending if you prefer to have the heal over time it offers.

If you are purely focused on solo content or have 0 issues with survivability, then taking Rune Of Lynxlike Reflexes can help you move from mechanics or clear Delves and Ritual Sites quicker.

Tier 3 - Rune of Lingering (Week 3)

Tier 3 only has a single option Rune Of Lingering, this makes your core run apply a damage over time or heal over time whenever your Core Rune deals damage or heals. As this is the only option on Tier 3 you will always take it.

Tier 4 - Secondary Stat Rune (Week 4)

Tier 4 grants a proc of a secondary stat of your choice when your Core Rune activates. Your choice of secondary stat will depend greatly on your specialization and your characters preferred secondary stats. We would recommend checking our Class Guides for more information on your Spec’s Stat weighting, but be aware that simming your character will likely yield the most accurate result for this Omnium Folio choice.

You can easily swap runes without any requirements or need to travel so if you hit a breakpoint or swap specialization you can easily swap which runes you have selected.

Tier 5 - Capstone Rune (Week 5)

The tier 5 rune buffs some of the previous runes, the Rune Of Overload buffs the core rune, Rune Of Residual Energy doubles the effect of the Lingering Rune and the Rune Of Echoes repeats all Core and Lingering Runes damage and healing but at 50% effectiveness.

In our testing Rune Of Overload generally performed the best in most situations. The Rune Of Echoes performed very well in dungeons when chain pulling, although any downtime makes this rune lose a lot of value.

The Rune Of Residual Energy is generally weaker than the other two although it could be useful for Damage Over Time classes such as Affliction Warlock, Shadow Priest and Balance Druid.

Overall the Omnium Folio is a nice addition at the end of Midnight Season 1, being able to adapt to a specific specialization makes it very nice for players who play multiple roles.
