Service Medals are a currency introduced during the Battle for Azeroth expansion, they are used to purchase a large amount of rewards including Mounts, Pets, Toys and they are still used for Draught of the Ten Lands experience potion, which grants 10% increased experience until level 49.
Farming these can be a little difficult as you are limited on the amount you can earn per week, through world quests, faction assaults and quests. We have put together all of the different ways you can farm Service Medals.
All of the activities can be completed on each character you have. Thankfully, the currency is warbound, meaning you can earn it on multiple characters and transfer it into a single character to purchase what you want.
World Quests
There are two separate locations where you can do World Quests to earn service medals, these are Hillsbrad Foothills and Darkshore. However, these are not always available as your faction needs to currently control the zone, which is done by completing the warfront and they cycle between them. When the zone is active for your faction a portal will spawn in your faction's BFA capital.
Each World Quest rewards a single Service Medal and there is a total of 5 per zone, meaning you can earn a maximum of 10 each time your faction has control of the warfronts.
Faction Assaults
Faction Assaults occur in all 6 of the original Battle for Azeroth zones, regardless of faction. All you need to do is complete 4 world quests in that zone, then you will receive a specific quest for that area. Completing that quest will reward you with 5 service medals, this can only be completed once per assault.
Quests
There are several quests that you can complete to earn service medals; there are a total of four for each faction. These appear whenever the warzones change to your faction and you will need to complete several parts of the campaign to unlock these.
There will be one to complete either the Darkshore or Arathi Highlands Scenario which can be queued for in either Boralus or Dazar’alor.

The normal version of these quests reward 15 service medals each except for the Heroic Darkshore quest which rewards 50. Completing the Heroic version of the Warfront does require a full group of 10 players before you can queue for it.
Tip: There are sometimes groups being formed in the looking for group tool you can join.
Hopefully this quick guide has helped you to collect enough Honorbound or 7th Legion Service Medals for the rewards you are looking for. Despite being an older currency, it can still be great to gather some for using the Draught of the Ten Lands experience potion to level some new characters, or collect some of the rewards you get along the way..
