Stat Priority
The Stat priority for Tariq is as follows:
- Item level / Strength
- Crit
- Haste
- Expertise
- Spirit
Item level is king in Fellowship as main stat has the greatest effect on your damage, healing and survivability.
Haste lets us cast Heavy Strike more often and more consistently proc Blood & Thunder in lightning builds, while also reducing the cooldown of several other key abilities. It also allows for more Wild Swing + Facebreaker combo's which is a massive part of tariq's damage even more so now in the pre season 2 patch.
Critical Strike has the chance to double the damage of your abilities. It synergizes well with our talent Spit It Out, increasing the power of our Crits further.
Expertise is a simple stat that increases our damage and healing.
Spirit builds your ultimate faster by reducing its cooldown and increases the chance to refund your Fury spenders, letting you cast more Hammer Storm and Skull Crusher in your cooldown windows.
Weapon Traits
It is incredibly unlikely to randomly loot a weapon with all of your BiS traits on it so this will naturally take some playing around with to get the best results. You are able to reroll the Traits on a weapon so if you happen to come across a weapon with your best Master Trait then it might be worth rerolling the Heroic traits instead of holding on hoping for a better weapon to drop. This could also be worth doing with ideal Heroic traits, however the cost of rerolling the Master Traits is significantly higher both in gold and the Legend's Godstone.
High level Tier List to support this discussion below:
Master Traits

The best Master Traits are Visions Of Grandeur and Amethyst Splinters. Visions Of Grandeur is your go-to majority of the time, but in massive pull dungeons where there is a very high count of enemies such as silken hollow Amethyst Splinters can be used and perform well. You can opt to play Amethyst Splinters full time if you wish but being able to get +10 Ult charge every use of your Fateful Basher is very nice, and getting a reset when you Ult is also a very large damage gain. Fateful Basher>Ult>Fateful Basher again for an instant 10 spirit whilst in your Ult and getting 2 sets of 20% expertise and cooldown reduction.
Heroic Traits

So far I believe that the best Heroic Trait is Inspired Allegiance, which gives you and your group Haste and reduces the cooldown of your Weapon Ability, giving you more weapon uses and therefore more Spirit because each weapon usage is +10 Spirit as well as the CDR/Expertise. The other powerful Heroic Trait is Willful Momentum, which gives flat Spirit and when you get a Spirit refund you get a flat % main stat increase. You tend to get a lot of Spirit refunds on Tariq so the uptime of this flat % main stat is pretty high. Vengeful Soul is also a good option, but the proc rate and uptime seemed to be way less than willful momentum last pre season patch.
Defensive Traits

The best defensive traits are King Of The Hill, Against All Odds, and Ancestral Intervention. All three help you live one shot mechanics, unavoidable mechanics, and avoidable ones should you mess up. Ancestral Intervention is a cheat death on a long cooldown, which I believe is a must have. The second one is up to you, King Of The Hill being the all around best.
Gems & Gem Builds
The gem system in Fellowship is pretty unique. You socket gems into your gear to gain Gem Power, which then unlocks various Gem Bonuses. Gems come in different sizes, and bigger gems provide more Gem Power.
You can upgrade gems using Gem Fusion at Master Craftsman Braggi, fusing 3 of the same gem type and size will create the next size up.
Some socketed items can also drop with increased gem power on the socket itself, 35% on regular items and 100% on Legendaries. Because of that, you’ll want to prioritize putting your higher-quality and larger gems into those boosted sockets. For example, a Legendary with a 100% increased gem power socket is the perfect spot for one of your biggest gems.
There is also a hard cap on how many gems you can hold, once you reach 92 total gems, you’ll stop looting new ones.
Gem Types & Bonuses
The Gem types each follow a pattern of the type of bonus they provide, a simplification of the Gems is shown in the table below.
| Gem Type | Gem Bonus |
| Ruby | Main Stat / Boss Combat Buffs |
| Amethyst | Critical Strike |
| Topaz | Haste |
| Emerald | Expertise |
| Sapphire | Stats during Ultimate Ability |
| Diamond | All Secondary Stats |
Tariq Gem Priority & Ideal Setup
Our early-game gem priority for Tariq is: Sapphire> Amethyst > Ruby > Emerald > Diamond > Topaz.
In the end game, your goal is to max out the Sapphire tree first, doing so will allow you to not only be a lot stronger in your ult window, but be able to use more of them per dungeon.
After that, invest into Amethyst until you reach Sealed Fate II
Finally, use your remaining slot for a Ruby, which adds 3% primary stat.
This may change with more testing as everyone and myself has more testing time in the new patch.
Going for Might of the Minotaur II in red may end up being better than sealed fate giving you 9% primary stat when your health is above 80%.
As the patch progresses we will see what is truly best.
