Gems in Fellowship: How they Work, How to Get Them & All Gem Powers

Gems are a crucial part of Fellowship end-game. Gems are a way to make your heroes even stronger by adding a lot of different bonuses to them. In this guide, we will give you a full breakdown of how gems work, how to unlock them and a list of all gems and their powers available in Fellowship.

How to Unlock Gems in Fellowship

The first time you explore the Stronghold, you will find a few NPCs dedicated to gems, but during your first Dungeon runs you will not loot any Gems. Even though they are a key part of any endgame build, Gems will not be available to you until you reach Contender 7. Gems should start to drop then, gaining strength and rarity when you increase dungeon difficulty, maxing out at Eternal 2.

To equip Gems, you’ll have to socket them into gear pieces with sockets. Gear with sockets doesn’t drop until the Adept league, so you’ll likely have a few gems before you get an item to use them with.

What is Gem Power?

To understand why gems are important, we have to understand Gem power and how it works. Each socketed gem will grant your hero gem power. In the Gem Power tab of your character, you can allocate gem power into different passives. In dungeons, you can find 6 different gem colors, and there are 6 different gem power tracks, one for each color. Once you socket a gem, the corresponding track is upgraded using the gem’s gem power. The better the gem, the more Gem power you get.

Each track consists of 5 different passive effects, each one getting better once you have enough power. Each color has its own strengths:

  • Ruby (Red) focuses on Primary stats and Health scaling.
  • Emerald (Green) focuses on Cooldown Reduction and Expertise.
  • Sapphire (Blue) focuses on Heroism and Spirit.
  • Topaz (Yellow) focuses on Haste.
  • Diamond (White) gives a bit of everything.
  • Amethyst (Purple) focuses on Critical Strikes.

To reach the end of one track, you’ll need 2640 gem power. Overcapping will grant extra stats.

There are 5 different gem tiers. Simply put, basic gems offer 120 Gem Power, and each new rank offers an additional 120 gem power.

Don’t forget, only gems socketed into gear can give you gem power! Sockets also have a few tricks. Some items might drop with a Bonus Gem Power modifier, meaning any gems socketed in them will have additional Gem Power. This is usually a percentile, so it will always be best to socket your strongest gems in your strongest sockets.

How to Upgrade Gems

Once you have a few Gems, you might want to get better ones. You can upgrade the lower quality gems into higher ones, so never throw away your weaker gems! The Gem upgrade system lets you fuse 3 lower gems together to create a new gem of the higher tier. 3 Small Gems make one Large Gem, 3 Large Gems make a Splendid Gem, 3 Splendid Gems make a Flawless Gem.

Master Craftsman Braggi will help you upgrade your gems, but this NPC can offer a few more services.

First, they are able to break down higher tier gems into smaller ones if you need to. But aside from the gem upgrades, the most interesting things here are transmutations. Transmutation is used to change a gems color:

  • Unstable Aether transmutes a gem into another random color of the same level.
  • Imbued Aether transmutes a gem into another color, but you can choose between 3 options.
  • Arcane Aether lets you choose into what color you want to transmute your gem.

All Gems Powers in Fellowship

Every track has a few powers, and if you want to know more about each track, here is the detail. Note that each upgraded power replaces the lesser one (e.g. Might of the Minotaur II replaces Might of the Minotaur).

Ruby Gem Powers

Might Of The Minotaur II 1200 +9% primary stat while you are above 80% health.
Champion’s Heart II 1560 +420 Stamina and +24 Strength / Intellect / Agility
Unyielding Vitality II 1920 You heal for 2.1% of your Maximum Health every 2 seconds while in combat.
Titan’s Blood II 2280 +9% Stamina
Blessing Of The Conqueror II 2640 While in combat with a boss your Damage, Healing, and Absorption is increased by 12%.

Topaz Gem Powers

Adrenaline Rush 120 +3% Haste for 10 seconds each time you deal damage to or heal a character that has 30% or less health.
Thief’s Alacrity 240 +100 Stamina and +100 Haste
Rogue’s Resurgence 480 When you are below 50% health you are instantly healed for 8% of your maximum health. This effect can only occur once every 20 seconds.
Feline’s Grace 720 +3% Haste
Blessing Of The Virtuoso 960 You retain +3% Haste from ‘Spirit of Heroism’ while it is not active.
Adrenaline Rush II 1200 +9% Haste for 10 seconds each time you deal damage to or heal a character that has 30% or less health.
Thief’s Alacrity II 1560 +300 Stamina and +300 Haste
Rogue’s Resurgence II 1920 When you are below 50% health you are instantly healed for 24% of your maximum health. This effect can only occur once every 20 seconds.
Feline Grace II 2280 +9% Haste
Blessing Of The Virtuoso II 2640 You retain +9% Haste from ‘Spirit of Heroism’ while it is not active.

Sapphire Gem Powers

Blessing Of The Prophet 960 The duration of your Spirit of Heroism is increased by 6 seconds.
Ancestral Surge II 1200 While Spirit of Heroism is active, your Strength / Agility / Intellect is increased by 24%.

Blessing Of The Deathdealer 960 Your critical strikes do 4% more damage and healing.
Sealed Fate II 1200 Your Damage and Healing effects on characters with more than 80% health have +30% critical strike chance.

Reaper’s Reprieve II 1920 Each time an enemy that you dealt damage to dies, you gain Reaper’s Reprieve, healing you for 36% of your Maximum Health over 18 seconds.
